If Not The EMIRA .......... WHAT ? .... yes ok blasphemy perhaps

I was originally looking at the Ariel Atom 4 as the antidote to my Tesla daily driver, but decided $85-100k for what's essentially some welded steel and a Honda engine was silly, despite the unmatched driving experience. Emira was a much prettier and more practical compromise, albeit significantly less performance than both.

The only other option for me would likely be a Porsche GT car of some flavor but it appears the rest of the world agrees, with the exorbitant pricing lately. As EV's take over I only see those enthusiast car prices increasing...

I only buy brand new cars, and only buy ones that can be used a lot and will not break down much, so the options are only:
Porsche 718 T Boxster will full blast interior and red options
Porsche 718 S Cayman in white metallic with full blue interior leather and blue carpeting

There really is no other competitor that is sensible to the Emira. Mid-engine is a must, it not breaking down on a 600 mile mountain trip week-weekend is a must. Toyota engine and Toyota transmission and new quality control robotic Lotus facility sounds promising, as well as Porsche's reliability. If Emira works out its kinks easily, it would probably be the most reliable true sports car in existence. It might knock out the MX-5 ND2 I own for longevity, or at least match it.

CAYMAN 987 S
MASERATI GT MC SHIFT
PORSCHE CAYENNE MERDAD
ASTON MARTIN VANTAGE V8
PORSCHE CAYMAN 981
BMW I8 ..... Seriously try one.

Next logical step was the mclaren, although I've already wanted a Ferrari, but realistically it's always going to be the Emira,it's got everything I want .

If the worst was to happen to make me change my mind, I'd probably go for a Boxster Spyder or GT4

I was taking an interest in I8s, you could literally get one a year old, convertible for 64k back in the days before Covid and inflation.

I’m tempted to put a supercharger on my M3 , it costs 10k and takes BHP up to 625. Plenty to spin the wheels in 1st, 2nd and 3rd..

More of a left field choice for me, during 'the wait' I still find myself looking at one of these. Proper bucket list purchase. Same price as a base Emira and using the best man maths, that's a saving on the FE.

Bit less practical admittedly. But oh the sound!

Maybe breaking up with the missus and if I do it literally leaves an Emira sized hole in my finances......
Currently doing a resto on my 22 years owned Corrado VR6, so could just have that and keep the GR Yaris. Or as a half way house... I'd quite happily have another manual 981 Boxster. Lovely handling, roof down motoring and the 3.4 sounds incredible. Nice GTS available for about 42k at the moment. All the car you could ever need to be honest!

Loved my I8 great car, this is the car that most people would come up to me to talk about. You feel so cool getting in and out of the flippy up doors.

I divorced my cheat of a husband. I sold his Brietling and spent it on a holiday to Mexico .I replaced him with a chihuahua. My divorce present to myself was a new Audi A5 Sportback loved that car. I thank my blessings everyday I divorced best thing I ever did ! Onwards and upwards !

aLways liked the gsxr...... brother had 7/11 street fighter.... I had srab gsxr 750... the early srad.... the went zx750rr.... miss my bikes.... guessing 0-60 of your car dont matter much being a biker..... you got your date yet.... which colour did you go with in the end

Great picture. The only time I ever got paper under my road bike (s) tyre is when I ran over my chips wrapper!

No don’t have date yet. I’ve gone for manual Nimbus with tan leather, sports chassis, lower black pack. Wheels probably black gloss but it’s choice between these and silver.

So, Ok…. We are all waiting and hoping we will get or cars,



lots of hope for sometime before Christmas 2022, some lucky people have a delivery date, and I am sure counting the days.

But between some of us getting a date, there are a lot of variables that could change. The car price could go up, interest rates I am sure, will go up,

The cost of living has and is going to continue on an upward trend….

All of this for some people meaning the car could become hard for them to afford or even run, Insurances seem to go up, no matter how well you drive or how many years NCD

So, if not the EMIRA what….

I have been looking…. Porsche Cayman GTS 4.0L…. E53 Merc, Jag….?

None of them look as good, when driving them they all seem soul less….

The last car I drove that made me smile every time driving it was my Maserati Gran T…. but even the face lift ones are dated, they stopped making the car 3 years ago



Options Please !!!!!!

There are a lot of very nice 4.7 V8 Vantages out there for 40k - 60k. I've had mine 8 years and will be very sad to see it go.

It's even better since I had the new AM twin plate clutch fitted.

A Vantage with a carefully chosen selection of Bamford Rose upgrades would be a very special car indeed - it's what I'd do to mine if I was keeping it.

I have a 4R on order (drawing board at the minute, expected this or next year). I mistakenly thought I'd have the Emira before I get the Atom, but who knows now! I agree with you, it is overpriced for what it is, but it is hand built with rock solid residuals. I will never sell though, this and the Emira are my sons' liabilities! The way I see it, with the policing of roads in the UK, I need something that will feel special at legal speeds too and not having a windscreen and with constant fear of being attacked by bugs and stones, will give me all teh excitement I need at 30 mph plus 10% plus 2 miles!

Yes, it could easily get out of hand as these things often do! Mine will be going for about 45k, if keeping it I'd spend 4-5k on suspension upgrades and possibly similar amount on new exhaust and manifolds. It already has carbon seats so think that would be job done.

Fair. I really REALLY like the Nomad as well The Atom ain't bad though enjoy
