Wow, 2 years before reveal and still can’t get one… That’s some wild demand.Full disclosure I put deposit on a C8 Z06 about two years ago but my dealer call me in August that I was not going to get a Z06 and wanted to return my deposit. I told him I don’t want my deposit back after 1.5 years of waiting. I want to stay in the line and not loose my spot no matter how long. I then went ahead and put a deposit on emira in August.
Emira looks so much better than Corvette but hard to argue with a Z06 performance.
Hopefully I will get both
"...speed is temporary but ugly is forever."Wow, 2 years before reveal and still can’t get one… That’s some wild demand.
I agree the performance (and sound) of that flat-plane crank V8 is amazing, however at the end of the day speed is temporary but ugly is forever. Also no manual is a big detractor for me.
Performance is much easier and cheaper to come by these days, so I buy for the driving experience, hence Emira. Hope you can get one if not both!
The V6 is supercharged, not turbocharged. Not a stretch at all considering that Toyota V6 has been around for ages. It's also a 3.5L turbocharged vs a 4.0L naturally aspirated... I am not bashing the Emira. I like it a lot as well, otherwise I wouldn't be on this forum. I still plan on getting one of the base editions (I tried to get a FE but couldn't secure an allocation).
Typo. I am happy it is supercharged for sound reasons. Although it would be easier to tune if it was turbo'dThe V6 is supercharged, not turbocharged.
You're right mate, I shouldn't have said it like that. I should have phrased it as every aspect that matters to me. Although to be fair, I do think that the Porsche interior will be of a higher quality fit and finish (or maybe equal). Even so, if I was very concerned about the interior, I wouldn't be looking at either of these cars.No problem I agree in a sports car engine, transmission and wieght are very important aspects but they aren't every aspect. That's just my opinion and correct we are all entitled to an opinion.
Ha! Those are still cool cars. I think the RS3 is a ton of fun. They are like little go-karts.Here's one out of left field (and try not to laugh at me too much ) ... before the Emira popped onto the radar, I was actually trying to decide between going for the latest RS3 or a second-hand RS6. :shame:
In my defence, I'm still in the situation where I have to ferry kids around occasionally, so was trying to combine last-hurrah ICE car with something slightly practical. That plan went sailing unceremoniously out the window when I saw the Emira... sod 'em, they can walk
An Edinburgh specialist car dealer of 40 years standing, whom I've bought a number of cars from over the years including my 911, and could drive any car he liked, said the Boxster was all the car most people would ever need, all with open top motoring to boot - you are both bang on!I forgot earlier to post what I'd get for exsctly the same money if the Emira wasn't available.
Emira has a little more drama, but I do like my open top motoring and this engine is a peach! Love it.

If you watch Ade's updated video ( @Evotion ) where he talks about his visit to the Hethel factory, and seeing the updated interior pieces including the dash, he emphasizes how fantastic the quality is, and says it's at least equal to, and maybe even a bit better than Porsche, which is saying something! I think the Emira's interior quality is going to be first-class all the way.I agree lotus have to massively up the game to match porsche quality interior.
A wise man! I think a lot of folk often overlook the Boxster as the poor mans 911. If he was going touring in Europe, that's what he took.
I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's difficult to beat a current Porsche interior in quality of materials and fit and finish. It's seriously like art! I'd be happy if the Emira gets close. Very true......if they get any think like close..... Not 100%....... old brain.... etc... but sure... ish ..... we was told the interior is be done in Germany..... the dash at least.... might be woth asking TomI'm not saying it's impossible, but it's difficult to beat a current Porsche interior in quality of materials and fit and finish. I thought the pre-production interior was good, the passenger grab handle felt very sturdy and so did fhe plastics lower on the doors. I did a lot of touching of the interior as the interior was my biggest worry before viewing the car.Very true......if they get any think like close.....
