If Not The EMIRA .......... WHAT ? .... yes ok blasphemy perhaps

If I'm not allotted an i4 fe, I may cancel and wait till the electrified version of cayman/boxster releases. My wife will be super happy and can have her porsche.
Now that Lotus knows what kind of demand to expect, they'll be in shape to produce a lot more i4 FE's than they were for V6's. By the time i4 FE production begins, the production process will be a well-oiled machine, and they'll have 2 maybe 3 shifts trained and working.

Out of interest, as ive never driven one, was it as good a ride as the car reviews say it is?

I was very impressed. The car was planted, confident/predictable at the limit and had more grip than I knew what to do with around Portimão. Steering wasn't as communicative as a Lotus and it felt very down on power, very much a momentum car. Cockpit was surprisingly nice. Not Porsche-nice, but a very nice place to be with high quality materials. Visibility was good, the noise was good, and the car looked better in the flesh than in photos.

I enjoyed it more than the 4C. Relative to a Cayman, it depends on the Cayman. I'd prefer this to a base 718 but would take a 4.0 GTS over the Alpine (which probably isn't surprising given the Alpine is a 1.8L and auto-only).

I placed a deposit at my "local" dealer in July of last year with the possible intentions of getting a V6 Emira. This was prior to pricing or any other real information being released. As I learned more, I've decided to forgo the Emira and opt for either a 2022 or 2023 C8 hardtop convertible, as the C8 offers so much more in the way of functionality, tech, a retractable hardtop convertible, as well as 495 hp. I also have an Elise and intend to keep it, so I'll still be proudly representing the Lotus marque.

I really wish I liked the c8 looks. It’s such a bargain for the performance. It’s just too angular for me. But that will be a splendid car!

I was torn between several cars intially the list included Z06/GTS 4.0/Carrera S....

Then I brought the list down to 2 cars only, Emira and GT4RS, I ended up getting both lol, I found that they can actually coexist, I mentioned there's 2 track focused cars coming to me by next year and one is the GT4RS (hopefully this year but I doubt).

As for Cayman GTS 4.0, I owned a 981 GTS I don't want similar car again, as for Z06 the chassis have so many compromises to me it felt like a marketing car than actual driver's car after I drove the C8, engine won't fix it for me will rather buy 458 used than a car trying to become 458....

Carrera S I drove it for a week, tbh it's not exciting enough, it's amazing daily driver, one of most refined, most comfortable, most luxurious sports car I have been in, but when I drove Evora GT I simply needed that extra level of excitement......

The car I was really trying to get alongside GT4RS is Lexus LC500, the reason I didn't is I needed one more last manual car and I will give that to Emira being the one, always wanted Lotus manual and now it's perfect time for one, but this Lexus is in my bucket list for sure! I need this and GR Yaris in my garage!
Cant believe you have a GT4 RS I'm a 'little' bit jealous..... lol
I will happily px my Yaris 😇
Also like the Lexus as a characterful stress free GT. You have great taste my friend! Enjoy

I am in the same boat. A mid engine NA V8 would be too much to pass up at that price point if it fit my eye better.

Hate to be a dunce on this. So the car on the right is an Evora with some aftermarket stuff, yes/no? What is the car on the left?

I’m not a fan of the C8 but I agree that it offers a lot of power. I cannot stress this enough though. If you can get your hands on a naturally aspirated engine in a new sports car, whether that be from the Cayman GTS, GT4, C8, or whatever, you need to take it. We make a big deal about this being Lotus’ last ICE vehicle and that’s true but they will still be around for a few years. The NA engine is a thing of beauty and it’s practically extinct. There is not a more visceral driving experience than not having snails. Look at the resale value of the 458 right now. If I had all the money in the world, the 458 speciale would be in my garage.

I like sharp lines, but just like you the c8 is to angular. I actually had a deposit for one, until i decided to get a convertible lc500. I was never in love with the car and was concerned about GM reliability.

Anyone here had a 718 or 981 spyder?
I can't stop looking at them whilst waiting for June....

If you’ve read my posts in this thread, you already know how I feel about the GT4. When Preuninger took over the GT division ahead of the 718 (982) release, he made sure the GT4 and Spyder were equals internally. That was not the case for the 981. If you can get one, get it.
