Japan - Shipping and Delivery (輸送中エミーラ目撃情報)

Bring her along to Harajuku🤪 She’ll love it❣️(I had mine along when I signed the contract a year ago 😇)
Yeah, I took her along to there when I bought my Sprint220, and she loved.

But since our children are in charge of us(lol), it is a bit of difficult to go alone or with my wife.
I’ll talk to them when they back😁

These are likely to be demo cars and test drive cars, with only few are for customers

I’m on order #21 in Japan, dealer told me that mine has not been shipped yet and most likely the delivery will be June

Also the shipping date of my car has been pushed from January to February to April, and further delay is expected, so I highly doubt I will even receive the car in June….

#update from dealer
The recent delay is due to some issues around registration , and because of this they are slowing down the shipment to Japan, once this is addressed (hopefully within April) we will see more cars coming

Lotus is not shipping cars in order, because there are at least two Emiras which are #7x and #1xx.
Maybe someone canceled same spec Emiras?
Hope our cars will arrive real soon.

Sitting In front of the Dark Verdant/Tan EMIRA V6 Manual FE with Virtualmacho in Harajuku, Tokyo on an April Sunday afternoon. We even picked up the last two available Dark Verdant model cars available for sale, in order to have at least something to glance at during the endless waiting days/hours until our genuine cars magically appear some time in the future.View attachment 24863View attachment 24864View attachment 24865View attachment 24867View attachment 24868
Oh.. I read model cars as in the actual First Edition model car on display 🤣. Opps

Makes sense. We have paid to Play the waiting game... why not play along a bit more. We might even get a chance to test drive the car before delivery.

Magma Red? exhibit at Autopolis on May 5.

Do you know anything about the number of authorized Lotus distributors in Japan being reduced to 10?
This magma one is the one I was almost to buy😁 All in Red with BP.

Lotus wants dealers with latest Policy, latest design, the latest CI design, and even size of showroom. Many dealers are quit because the cost is way too high.
Left a few dead…

The issue is about homologation for the car model to be approved for Japan (the term for the whole vehicle approval process) An approval is a government-issued certificate that allows a product to enter a market.

Exactly the same situation is now happening regarding Emira in the USA. The homologation process is taking far more time than anticipated, and deliveries to the US market are delayed by many months if not half a year.

Are you in Tokyo? Let’s get together to “Talk Emira” 🤩

ino; you seem to have knowledge that no one else here has to access to (like detailed serial number info on shipped cars👀). Would you also know what issues have delayed the homologation process in Japan?

Because I have ordered but not a specific one and am waiting the fastest one of the Emiras which will come to the dealer I have signed. So the dealer told me the spec (and the number, secretly😂).
Since I have only a little information about the ordering number, so I cannot answer which was built and shipped, will be in build, sorry.

The issue, I read a rumor of the exhaust emissions and noise related issues to pass the PDI.
But it is just a rumor, so please don't believe. (Because it was written in January. Maybe the demo car? IDK...)

I have the experience of commissioning a custom stainless steel exhaust system including catalyzer for a BMW 528i I owned. I was caught by BMW service and told my car was illegal and they refused any further servicing and repair work. I embarked on getting my exhaust and catalyzer system reworked to get it to pass tests by authorities. An initial test failed both on emissions and noise. Further rework by adding a second catalyzer and some other modifications got the car through both the noise test and the emissions test, and finally I received the official paperwork, and I could again receive service and all other work to be done on the car by BMW.

Thank you ino for confirming that the homogelation work done to the Emira most likely centers around emissions and noise. The modifications done to a new car model that enters the market must be consistent and universal for all cars sold in that market.

I am quite curious to hear how the Japanese market version of the Emira V6 will sound.

Unfortunately, the sound might be more quieter than Exige’s. I haven’t heard in my person, but it seems the low frequency is cut.
It’s still fantastic, though.

Yes; and I assume no one (except 関係者) has heard any Japan-approved version of Emira. The cars in the “New Dawn” Video are all UK versions, and so is the display car currently in the Harajuku LCI showroom. I have heard this display car on a couple of occasions; and it is pretty loud. I also heard an Evora 410 with titanium exhaust that was definetely way beyond current limits. So, what I am saying is that we all have to do our 我慢する and simply wait until the car is released. The other day I heard it will be May until such a car is released. It is interesting to see that a Magma Emira V6 FE has been promised to show up at an AUTOPOLIS event in Oita Kyushu one of the first days in May. Maybe those who get to hear that car will know the answer. I hope for a good sound that is full of energy, even though the volume may be turned a bit down.

Interestingly, most probably the Emira I4 can keep more of its naturally generated sound level (since the M139 is by nature a quieter engine). However I hope that the Lotus engineers can create a fulfilling sound from this engine too; tuning the sound from their self-engineered intake and much shorter exhaust that are both bespoke for the Emira I4.

Exciting times indeed. たのしみに。

Only one car in Daikoku today. Looks like the same Seneca Blue car that was parked at the back of the group last week.

Yes. Several months ago, local shops quoted around 1,500K Yen, but this was before the XPEL template data was scanned and loaded into the system. Not sure what the figure will be now.

Everything around Tokyo is costly...

Yes, but depends on the cost.
If the cost is way too high, I will wrap it up in white.

Most the place I asked is about 1M JPY ish… not sure if it’s worth it though ..
