June delivery delay - Lotus now says July…

    Featured
I was down for a June delivery but I’ve just received this from Lotus…

As you’ll be aware from our previous communication, your new Emira specification is now fixed in our production system and scheduled to be completed in June 2022. Therefore, we are pleased to inform you that your new Emira will be ready for handover in July 2022. Ahead of this, we will be in contact to arrange the delivery and handover with you. We appreciate this is later than originally predicted, so please accept our sincere apologies for the slight delay.

In the coming weeks we will be providing more information regarding financial services, trade-in and insurance products that you may be interested in for your new Emira. Following that, a couple of weeks before handover we will be in touch to complete the checkout process.
We know you have been waiting and are excited to receive your new Emira but please be assured that it will be everything you’d expect and more from a Lotus car.

I’m not that surprised but was wondering if anyone else hoping for a June car has been told it’s still on or is everyone’s delayed a little?

Got the same email today. Not impressed by the CYA and tying themselves in knots on completion vs handover. And July is a whole month. Also interesting that they now saw they will be in touch 'a couple of weeks before handover' to complete the checkout process. Is this the 30 days before payment that was supposed to happen?

July is not ideal as I will be travelling part of July. I may need to ask them to push out handover to Aug - let's see what they say,

Same here. June delivery now July. I am sure they have their reasons. Not the end of the world as far as I am concerned.

I wonder if the customers who originally had July deliveries will now get pushed back to August and so on?

Now that we know what Lotus means by "slight", perhaps they will deliver a "s

That would be the logical conclusion.

I suspect that they would notify July customers of delays in a few weeks. Given the crazy state of the world right now, it would be better to communicate a delivery delay once (and then deliver to the stated month) rather than communicate delays multiple times over - which would be a good way to lose customer trust.

It begins. I'm calling it now - US customers won't get any cars until 2023.

Be positive they said... "Maybe production will actually be ahead of schedule." Meanwhile, "Spring 2022" deliveries turned to "July 2022" then "September 2022" then "Autumn 2022" and now my dealer said "November at the earliest."

Of course there are delays. Production started in early March, yet they can't even provide photos of painted shells.

I got the same email. Looks like it's gone to most/all of the June batch, as I've seen people with both very early and later deposits in the June batch having been contacted. Weasel words about June meant completion and so delivery is July - no, you said delivery in June and so this is a month's delay.

No explanation provided, so we've no idea on level of confidence on the new timing. And no indication if they're working around it to maintain July deliveries (eg the previous stockpiling) or if July onwards will be delayed too. I'd been told by senior people two months ago they were positive about hitting June.

Part of me isn't surprised, there's a load of stuff going on that can impact on delivery. But also part of me is disappointed I won't now have an Emira in time for Festival of Speed or Lotus in the Peak plus a couple of other events.

This definitely isn't a surprise to me. Can't remember if I've said this somewhere before, but I had previously emailed LCC about my intended emira gathering in July around Marlow, Bucks. I have also emailed them on 3 other occasions for information. They have always replied within a few days. However, weeks have passed and still not reply from them from 'the show' email.
I think they have known for months, there would be very few cars delivered by end of June, definitely not enough for a gathering!

Same email putting back from June to July :(. Annoying as I didn’t change spec after they locked in my build without letting me know, as they said it would go back to July for any changes.

Cancelled my order now, as finding the whole buying process disappointing. just not feeling the love. Anyone who ordered a blue with red leather auto V6, might be jumping the queue this week (y)

However look forward to seeing the cars on the road and know it will be epic. Enjoy you lucky people.

Yearh letter says it’s being completed in June so if completed why can’t we have it then Lotus ? - is this got something to do with the license that resulted in Spring to June delays ?
I agree I think its something to do with the license and approval delaying the June cars being released, if its not and its just a delay and my August delivery is going to be September I will be fuming as I've bought a 22 private Reg plate for my Emira based on the email Lotus CS sent me. If it goes into September I will then need a 72 Plate.

I will try and get this confirmed with CS and keep you all in the loop.

You can still put a 22 private plate on sept Car

I have another car ordered, it’s a Ford. Delivery date was March 22 and now it’s January 23. Given the circumstances (new model, new production, but also and especially outside of lotus - heard about supply chain issues in every industry?) a delay of couple of months is actually not to bad and nothing that is not acceptable in 22. I’ve seen worse by, one could say, much more professional manufacturers…

Cancelling an order based on a shifting delivery date for a brand new model, with expected supply and resources issues, seems a flakey excuse to me. 🤔 Sign of the times of the instant gratification generation and low attention “instagram effect”?? All good things come to those that wait…

I'm really surprised at the people who are cancelling their orders over the delay of one month. You placed your deposits last year before you even knew much about the car; you've waited all this time, and now you're going to cancel over a one month delay when everything everywhere is experiencing delays? You realize, that if it was scheduled to be delivered on Thursday June 30, but they deliver it the next day on Friday July 1, that's actually only a one day delay? Even though technically it's a July delivery instead of a June delivery? Worst case would be delivery scheduled for Wednesday June 1, and instead they deliver it on Saturday July 30; that would be a 60 day delay, but the reality is likely to be somewhere in between those two extremes.

I have a feeling that those who cancel, thinking they'll get one later, may find it very hard to get one later and with a much longer wait than they've seen so far. Once the general public sees these out on the street, that's going to change things.

At any rate, thank you to those who cancelled; it made it possible for me to get an FE, and I'm now scheduled for a November delivery.

I‘m quite sure it‘s a general delay. My dealer told me a few weeks ago that my car will be delayed. It was planned for a July delivery and I now got a build slot in August, so roughly a two months delay for me.

I had a call with Lotus customer care today confirming my spec and although mine is an i4 he said that he did not expect the delays to the June deliveries to translate to the i4's and mine should still be Dec 22.

He then ruined it by saying that it might slip to Jan 23 Doh!
