Personally I don’t care for carbon fiber for rock guards, they will take a lot of damage over time and look pretty bad in my opinion. I also think they look better being inconspicuous.

I’m sure some would prefer them in CF.

3D Printed Rock Guards for the Emira

Just wanted to release a new design for the Emira. I had some TPU filament in 95A shore left over so I decided to design some rock / mud guards. This came about because after some fun on some back roads I noticed I have essentially destroyed the PPF behind the front wheels on the leading edge of the side sill, the rear fenders, and the PPF on the bottom of the rear bumper. These use mostly the stock hardware except for a couple optional extra locating holes for the front to use 3 push clips each instead of just the 2 factory ones.

Printing Your Own

• See Attached Emira Rock Guards.zip for:
  • The STEP file modules for your own slicer.
  • A 3MF for a full 4 plate setup inside of your favorite slicer with all of the slicing settings.
• Tips on slicing:
  • Place them with the protruding nubs face up and turn on supports.
  • 7 wall loops and 15-25% rectilinear infill works fine for me.
• Tips on filament selection:
  • I printed these in 95A shore TPU, this works very well, 85A shore will be too soft.
  • 68D shore TPU will likely work too but maybe you may need to modify the model to be 1.5mm instead of 2mm thick, more on that later.

Can You Print Them For Me?

Nope, sorry you're on your own there, find one of your 3D printing buddies and have them help you out. While the cost is low for me, I really don't want to be in the 3DP business. Expect to spend < $5 in TPU and 12 hours printing a full set of 4 rock guards.

Can I Modify The Design

Absolutely! The following is the OnShape models, you can modify any parameters you want here as well modify the underlying sketches and features if you so desire. I've made the commonly modified parameters as variables.

You can modify the models simply by:

1. Create an OnShape free account.
2. Copy the CAD model into your own account.
3. Make the modifications you want, most people will just modify variables, the ones you're probably interested in are the "extension" variables. They drive how far the rock guard extends from your bodywork. Double click the variable to change and save it.

4. Right Click the parts and export them to STEP or STL file to your slicer.
5. Print your modified rock guards.

On the front flaps with the extra locating hole. Did you just drill a hole in the fender liner to fit the push pin? Nothing behind that liner I would have to worry about to drill a shallow hole?

Yup, nothing particularly sensitive there, you can see for yourself when you remove the two plastic pin clips.
