Let's talk about the new bonnet/hood seal

The hood seal is a complete non issue ya'll are weird.

That being said are there any photos of how the front hood actually opens if at all?

It does just smack of lazy last-minute engineering, doesn't it... 😞

I don't really see any simple way to correct it after the fact (and, as others have noted, you shouldn't really have to). Painting it sounds faintly ridiculous, and you can't shift the panel down or the top corners won't neatly continue their lines.

It's a little like having to look past the fact that the super-good-looking bird/bloke you are eyeing up has a booger peeking out - shouldn't be a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but impossible to un-see :)

Not to worry, fellow FE-purchasers, I'm sure they'll consider correcting it for the Next Edition!

I wrote exactly the same thread as well.

Now after much ranting is there anything we can do to fix it?

Paint rubber seals bodycolor(not so elegant solution)
Color-matched bonnet seal (unlikely I assume?)
3rd party 1mm longer bonnet(such an overkill)
poke screwdriver through both eyeball(immediate fix and no cost)

Any other suggestion?

always park with the arxx facing you so when you walk away, you are only looking at the rear and hence you never see it, simple...
lets move on>
OR... someone at goodwood ask Lotus why its there and will it always be there etc etc, those who are bothered I mean. At this point you could stick a Hyundai sticker on the bonnet and I would still want it!

Someone with some stones should ask them outright whether they put a thumb-width black seal in there because their hood panel manufacturer delivered panels that are all 1cm too short. Because that's exactly how it looks.

Carbon bonnet, roof panel and rear hatch. Job done ✔️ 🙌

I saw it with four different colours at Goodwood and didn't have an issue, in some ways I felt it broke up the bonnet space quite nicely!

I don't want the front to be broken up! It wasn't before! I declare your opinion to be invalid on the grounds of being Overly Reasonable.

Yes, Get a Shadow Grey and enjoy life!

Actually duct tape is used by HVAC people to seal the air ducts, which is why it's called duct tape. Gaffer tape is different because it's designed to be easier to remove, and is used in film, tv and stage work on the sets.

#forthebonnetgap

I took the Lotus guy over to it and said this can’t be final can it. He said no. Apparently the final one will sit a fraction proud of the bonnet for wind noise.

Indeed and metalised I believe, I had assumed the suggestion was the cloth based gaffer:)) ) rather than shiny metal duct tape.
