True but some good gains to be had! He who dares Rodney Don't have to be silly with it. You should get 5% easy in a safe fund.

Go on then tell me a safe fund that returns 5% year on year. I’m always curious when people make statements like this as my experience is there are no safe funds.

True technically no safe funds. And I'm no financial advisor. But I'd say 5% is fair on stock market at moment if you took financial advice. I made 15% today alone. But I'm not going to say that's the normal!

Yep you could lose that and more the next day

Given you can expect roughly 10% per annum from things like an S&P500 index ETF, I don't think it is too outrageous to plonk the money into the market... the trick is to feed it in over months so that you average your cost. That, and have expectations of a multi-year investment horizon.

Alternatively, you can buy some crypto and see whether you end up with either a free car or a bunch of 'splaining to do!

I used to dabble and even copied trades from naked trader, some paid off some didn’t. Net net im probably equal to what I started off with. When you are up you think you can beat the system, then the next day you can’t. Longs, shorts , staggered investments, safe stocks, falling knife stocks tried them all. Guess I’m unlucky with the timing….

Yeah, I feel you. This is why I don't trade... I invest (and mostly in indexes). To paraphrase somebody far wiser than me, time in the market beats timing the market.

Sounds like lots of you guys have a few more options for finance than me.... I should have saved by November best part of the rest of my deposit..... one of my cards are offering 2 years 0% , perhaps pay down a little, am also putting on hold my project, and trying to move one of my others.... so if you know any one want a jet powered bike... give me a shout

Scrap Heap Challenge..... on line group and forum.... books.... been doing 15 years now.... i do want to get the last engine done.... will be bigest DIY jet engine in the world.... but this year the car comes first.... it can get a very expencive hobby
