Has anyone thought about commissioning a redesign of the rear wheel ports.
Today there is a small port/opening in the wheel-well and three louvers in the block gloss port in the rear. If the port was wide open -- no louvers-- and the opening in the wheel-well was opened completely it might look better. thoughts?

I agree that could add an interesting aesthetic.

Look at Frank Stephenson's YouTube video on his refinement of the Emira. He works on the openings to clean them up. My guess is that production and safety considerations are what prevent a fully open intake and exit. The black parts fake a larger opening as well.

Here is the link. I forgot I watched this years ago.

Good video , opening the port does add character. Think I'll reach out to one of these companies that creates all the carbon fiber parts, see how many units they need to sell for production to make sense.

It should be much less expensive than without the louvers. Maybe @Aerie can make a variant like this.

Just sent an email to Aerie's, might also reach out to

Let me know if you have any other suggestions.

There's also the issue of an open port allowing all kinds of debris being thrown out the back, including rocks, gravel, and sand to name a few. That could have an abrasive effect on the port, while possibly causing damage to any vehicle behind you. An open intake port could allow large material to get in there which would be a real problem. There was a video on YouTube of a guy named Todd (can't remember the video) where he hit a tumbleweed, which got sucked into the intake port and he had to stop the car to try and put out all the pieces. It was a mess.

I thought about the debri issue, but will have to check if there is a clear line of action from the wheel contact point through the open vent. Regardless, Lamborghini does not seem to care about this ;):

I am surprised this is legal.

I actually have thought the other way. I want to put a grate on the forward side of those vents because I've noticed rocks and dirt end up laying on the gloss black part.

I modeled it a month ago in 3d to see what it would look like.. I'll post screen shots of it later when I'm on that computer.

One of the most unique things about our car is being able to see the wheel through the vents, I'm surprised no one has done this yet in real life.

I would be interested as well. Gloss black as first choice but not opposed to carbon given I have a carbon duck tail spoiler and diffuser fin extensions. Those look great by the way. Lot cheaper than replacing the whole diffuser.

It subtle, Def would be more noticeable when walking around the car in person since its not a fake vent.

Revuelto also has this open rear wheel arch design. Seems to be a Lambo design language now.

Looking closely to the inside of the ports, you'll notice that behind the upper louvered sections is the rear wheel well liner and not completely open as is the lower section of the port where the tire threads are exposed. I'd also prefer a completely open port, not only for aesthetics, but mostly because it's a royal pain to clean those tight louvered sections. If the removal of the louvers implies also removing that portion of the rear wheel liners, then its potential implications should be considered.

Yes, noticed that. The other side of the liner is the engine bay. I have a thermal camera, once the weather warms up a bit more going to see if any warm air is being vented... Otherwise I was planning to just cut the fabric liner to the full port opening size.

Written 4 companies only Aerie's responded so far. They would produce with a 5-10 order commit, but only in carbon. Think we can find 5-10 in the forum, but I'm not really interested in Carbon ... going to keep searching. Thinking about also reaching out to GRP, maybe Greg can locate a manufacture.

I'm not sure there's much venting going on there since the liner portion would obstruct it anyway. I did remove those wheel well liners to install my GRP coil over sleeves, and behind them, I found the lower engine bay and rear the suspension section. Admittedly, I didn't focus on what's directly behind that small upper portion of the louvers but my concerned is more about excessive debris entering w/o the protection of that liner portion. All things need to be considered, like for instance, going reverse in gravel, mud etc. will the kicked up stuff enter and get stuck in the engine bay, diffuser or lower under tray?

Btw, I also don't care for Carbon Fiber or its look (I had an overdose of the stuff with my former 911) and would only buy the new open ports if they were offered in gloss black finish. When I recently ordered the Jubu diffuser fins, I called them up in Austria and they immediately agreed to finish the CF in gloss black to match the rest of the Emira's trim and they were happy to comply with a $200.00 surcharge which I gladly agree to. Came out a perfect match to the rest of the diffuser's black trim. Can't see why something similar couldn't be done with any other CF part if that's the only material the manufacturer is willing to offer. Maybe you can check with them to make the open ports, should Greg not find it an attractive business proposition for GRP.
