I still can't believe anybody ordered touring suspension on a Lotus.
Its like having red wine with fish.
:D:p:p
Sorry Ade, I'm going to keep making this point every time you say this. You are not correct and this is bad advice. Touring will suit a lot of people much better than Sports, particularly as a daily driver and over poor quality roads. Lotus should have called the setups Road and Track to make it clearer for people.

Anyone who is confused, please go back to page 1 post 1 and start reading again, or watch Harry's Touring vs Sports comparison video.

I don't think you are confused. You have spent time driving both cars and can't make up your mind. You are indecisive. Buy both but in those different colours, which you think you should have but can't decide which one.

But seriously, I have had a number of cars with switchable variable dampers and could never decide which setting was best. So the Lotus approach removes that fussing about that variable dampers induce.
we will agree...to not agree.. haha.
I 100% did not feel much difference..... in and around the track.... yes on a country bumpy road I guess I would...
I have ordered two... wont keep them and both sport..... it is after all a sports car ;)

im not 80 years old and its a "sports" car and I daylied an ariel nomad and then a westfield.... If its too firm I will just put a whoopy cushion underneath.. hah.
I respect everyones opinion, but mine is that this was stubbornness by Gav and not good business sense.... too complicated in an already complicated buying process.

Can you imagine going to ferrari and ordering a soft one...or a hard one....

I rest my case.... its a sports car, not a moon buggie. haha.

CHilly over there yet?

Fair enough! Go for the sports. I would have preferred they offered the Emira Cup/R/S or whatever they are going to call it. If I had any confidence that it would be coming by 2024 I would just get something else now and wait for it. Alas, I am not holding my breath, and I am fairly certain that a well specced base with a komotec upgrade to 430 HP @7,200 RPM with the sport suspension will do the trick for me. Only option that would make it perfect is the Evija seats... Too bad they don't have a CXX division like Porsche does to make special requests happen.

Yes a bit - shovelled some snow this morning, but thankfully it mostly melted away this afternoon.

como son las chicas y el tiempo en cataluña?

I think we should start a club for the proper Emiras (with Sport suspension)

@Lotustoronto Perhaps you should ask him like this (so that @emiraspain doesn't pretend he doesn't understand):
Com són les noies i el temps a Catalunya? :ROFLMAO:

While I agree with you Tom that touring will absolutely be better for some I don't like the idea of calling it Road & Track. Track would imply to me that it has suspension suitable for decent track time -- it simply doesn't, as we all know it's a tiny bump over touring with more aggressive damping for turn-in characteristics at the cost of comfort.

You need to get out more Ade! A light red like Pinot Noir can go really well with some fish dishes, as well as white or rose/rosado.

Once the tour suspension takes a set it's firm enough for road use.

Lotus are past masters at making cars with great ride and great handling.
Exactky.. so we know Sports will be, and is, fine.

Anything less firm than the Exige I drove will now feel soft anyway. :)
That Exige is still calling me. I go past, or drop in at, B&C every couple of weeks and I always get a case of 'should I get the Exige instead of the EMira' feeling. Especially when they are in one of those triple layer paint jobs. Last one I saw was a metallic yellow 420 Final Edition with carbon everywhere. £85k - yummy.

Well for some folks, yes, and as an ex-Exige owner it's what I've ordered. However, I don't think Touring should be portrayed as the soft, non-enthusiast option which somehow isn't very 'Lotus'. I thought it most definitely still handled like a Lotus in the way it flowed down a twisty road.

I was looking at an Evora 400 before the Emira was announced. I asked Gavin Kershaw at one of the roadshows which suspension option was most similar to the 400, as I thought it drove and handled really well. He said tour. Then having watched Harry’s video on the suspension where he gave the impression he was disappointed by the sport as it “didn’t feel like a lotus”. Given those 2 snippets from people that know significantly more about Lotus and sports cars in general I feel like I made the right decision going for tour.

I was also looking at an A110 prior to the Evora and it’s suspension and handling were praised for the same thing.

I've driven around 40 mins now on typical Scottish A and B roads with the Sport suspension and so far I like it. Not been pushing it by any means as it has been raining and I'm on Cup 2s, but it is very communicative and you can definitely feel all the lumps and bumps in the road, but is never jarring or harsh, just firm. When there is a larger bump you can feel the suspension almost start to work and it really soaks up anything that needs soaked up, but you still know you've hit the bump if that makes any sense. Small things like a patch of different tar, or cats eyes you can feel quite easily. I'd say if you're using the car as a daily in the UK probably touring would be better, but for me as an occasional car I'm happy with sport.

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a chart comparing the Emira choices to Evora and Cayman? Seems doable.

(NOTE: I just made up the attached chart as an example of what a real chart might look like.)

Took the Kent car out which had Sport. On flat A roads it was perfect and didn`t feel harsh in any way despite some lumps and bumps. Then got onto harsh B roads and you could feel it more. Car felt like it wanted to track across the road and needed some adjustment. Going to have another go in a tour at some point and compare.

But i`d agree with others. For day to day cruising it will be interesting to see what the touring feels like. But for Sport, i could live with it 100%
