I have always loved Hawk Brake pads. I've raced them, run them on my street cars and think they make an excellent product. The OEM Ferodo DS2500 pads leave A LOT to be desired. They are grabby, the dust they produce is ridiculous, and their operating temp range make them ill suited for HPDE / light Track duty.
The problem finding a good Hawk brake pad as a replacement is the Emira is too uncommon to be listed on many brake supplier websites. So I started researching and found that the Emira has AP Racing Calipers front and rear. The AP Racing part #'s for the calipers are: AP RACING CP7040D61 (Front)and AP RACING CP6600D55 (Rear). The corresponding Hawk brake pads for both the Lotus Emira / Evora GT Front and Rear HAWK brake pad part numbers are:
Front HB586( ).660
Rear HB585( ).660
Hawk makes a line of pads from street to track and everything in between. To find the pad right for your application, all you have to do is insert the letter to choose the pad compound. Once you’ve found the pads you want a google search of part numbers will find retailers. Not all compounds are available for both front and rear. With the Hawk part # a quick google search should list several suppliers. For example I put Performance Ceramics on my car. The Part numbers for f/r pads are HB586Z.660 / HB585Z.660
B = HPS 5.0 (Street for heavier cars, think mustang or camaro)
D = Motorsports (Light-to-medium weight vehicles in HPDE, Track Day events, or Time Trials)
F = High performance Street (Street)
G = DTC 60 (Autocross / Track)
N = HP+ (Street / Autocross and HPDE / Track)
Q = DTC 80 (Track ONLY – High Temps are required for Pads to work)
R = Street/Race pads (Discontinued Product)
U = DTC 70 (Track Only)
Z = Performance Ceramic (Low Dust Street use, light track / HPDE)
I installed the Ceramics and bedded them in. They fit perfectly! Almost zero dust and the brake feel is positive and progressive. Much improved over the dusty Ferodos.
