UK dealer demo cars - specifications

I could be wrong as it was on Goodyears but the guy told me that the spec they have received isn’t what they ordered at all…
lets hope that doesnt happen to us... hahah
imagine the whining in that case...

what you would hope for from a professional...and not an office guy who says he can take a photo.. ;).
costs like 150 quid for a pro to come in and take some real photos...... if you cant afford that..... you cant afford to work at lotus in an important position

Definitely not a permanent media staff member there... definitely not :censored:
I've heard they do private shoots at a discount for Emira owners too ;)

The best part of this is where the dealership is and what Prestbury is like. For those not familiar, here goes.

Prestbury is part of the 'golden triangle' of Alderley Edge, Wilmslow and Prestbury. The people thta live her are generally effluent affluent. Most of the people look like they have been carved out of plastic and have ultra high heels and handbags (that is just the men!). There is a ridiculous amount of very expensive cars and Alderley Edge, in particular, is a popular place for Premier League footballers to live. House are unaffordable for normal people.

That photo is the extent of the dealership, there is really only room for one car, two at a push. The dealership shares a building with a Co-Op convenience store. There is a general hatred of noisy/expensive cars (for those who can't afford them), the local Facebook Groups are constantly moaning about it (especially very nearby Alderley Edge).
I can't wait for the demos to start to watch the Facebook Groups go into meltdown!

Full disclosure now - we live just up the road from Alderley Edge, but far enough away to not fall into the affluent category (I think we are in the other one that I mentioned). We often go to Alderley Edge and I sit at a coffee shop watching the constant parade of automotive content as my wife looks longingly in the windows of the shop at all the things she can't afford. Although I do occasionaly buy her the odd treat at the Oxfam shop.

Know it well, once saw David Dickinson near Pressbury in his Bentley. I knew it was him as he looked like an ompa lumpa, all bronzed. And Alex Ferguson at the M +S near there too.

I also know it, used to live...for a few weeks... in marple bridge.... which was quite a bit nicer than stockport/prestbury ...
I am glad to see I am not the only one going WELL off topic, however, why am I the only one with my convo's moved to the bar/pub... If ever there was a post to move to the pub, or the coffee shop in Olderley edge, this is it.. haha

Went to see the demo at Lotus Central today. The car has sport suspension and Goodyears. Black gloss wheels, Alcantara with yellow stitch, yellow calipers.
Sadly the demo car though was far from perfect. There was rippling on the leather on the dash, chipped paint, poorly fitted door and windows seals, a hole on the leather on the drivers door. The seatbelt cover came off in my hand. There was even rust near the exhaust. With only 20 miles on the clock the quality was sadly very disappointing.
This was only have a very quick look around the car. I don’t understand how Lotus can send this car out.

you didnt take any photos?
did you mention all this to the dealer? what did they say...
this is worrying..... if that was my car just delivered Id send it back and take my money else where.... but maybe such a rush to get dealer cars out there, that small details are accepted.... shouldn't be though..

Oh my. Do you have any photos of these issues you could share? That is indeed concerning!

I didn’t take any photos unfortunately.
The dealer wasn’t made aware by Lotus that this was a demo car initially, they thought it was a customer car so had it sat waiting until Lotus confirmed what was happening. It has only been open to go and view from today he said as Lotus confirmed Saturday pm that it was infact a demo. I pointed out the issues and they were aware of them but they felt that the issues could just be teething problems. He didn’t seem too concerned. He was basically saying that if there were issues upon delivery then they would just sort them but this is not what you want when you buy a brand new car.
I did the factory tour when they first started doing them and the car had issues at this point but when we are at this stage surely these issues should be rectified.
He said that the first customer car from Central will be arriving tomorrow to go out on Thursday.

I hope that customer is a forum member, sees this and realises they need to give the car a careful check. The dealer seem too relaxed about quality issues.

This one started about the dealership and hadn't gone too far off topic - three posts then back on topic 👍

Plus I've been busy all day and am doing forum catch up and moderation from midnight to 2am :)

You’d think that Lotus quality checks at each building station and at the PDI would pick this up. This doesn’t bode well at all. This is the car people are going to see and drive and make a decision to progress on. I’m in Nottingham Thursday so will swing by and take some photos if the car is still on display.
