UK dealer demo cars - specifications

I had 2 Caterhams for 8 years and an Elise S2 for 8 years, all as run as a daily. Cant see a problem with Cup 2's on an Emira personally. Would be a luxury for me given my track record.🤣👍🤞
Sold my Evora400 new owner adjusted suspension settings to 410/430 - fitted Michelin Cup2. Transformed the car - we tracked it Silverstone in March, Anglesey in May, Donington in July. It was mega along with friends 911 GTRS also on Cup2,s

I understand some have views on cold days and water aquaplaning issues. But, as I intend to track I have selected Cup2’s so wanted to try them.

Recent carfection YouTube Video with Henry Catchpole in the borders visiting Jim Clark’s home. He stated the sports suspension with Goodyear Eagle F1, didn’t at certain times give home the front end grip he was expecting, I guess it was under steering at times. So it would be nice to test a chosen selection, which I think is going to be difficult. With so few Dealers having the sports/cup2 available let alone back to back sport vs Touring. It certainly isn’t ideal. Mind you this test issue has been going on all year. Let’s hope it’s Sooooon!

Yes I watched the Carfection video. Reminded me of visiting Jim Clark's grave and the Jim Clark museum. Yes, it would be ideal to test Sport/Cup2's then Touring/F1's back to back. But that is not going to happen. I do think that all of "Us Lot" deposit holders have specced our cars in the hope that we have got it right to suit our individual needs. Difficult really as we have only got to look at and sit in, essentially, a none working exhibit. IE the Seneca Blue car that did a tour of UK dealers.

Those of you who have Cup2's won't have to wait long to decide whether you want them again or not, they wear quickly.

Apparently that's now improved. Cup2 treadwear rating used to be 180, now its 240 based on a new compound and possibly deeper tread depth. By comparison, the GoodYear F1 SS tread wear rating is also 240.

However I still don't believe they will wear at the same rate!

Is this confirmed? I saw it mentioned in another thread, but would like more info. One of the big reasons I opted for the F1s was the longevity vs Cup2s... 🤔

Someone who is looking at the Emira demos with sport and cup2s needs to check out the tread wear rating. Then we will know if cup2 connects are installed (tw 240) or the older cup2s (tw 180).

That's interesting. In that case I'm considering the Cup 2s again, because I will only drive the car from March until October anyways. However another thing to consider is that the Cups 2 used to need some tire temperature to work properly. No problem on a track, but maybe kind of a thing when you just drive around town and then decide to speed things up a bit when approaching some nice corners.

This is why I went for the F1s over the Cup2s. I want to drive mine year round, which includes the winter where it may get below freezing (assuming there's no snow or salt on the roads where I am). I drove a GT4 with Cup2s in the summer and even then they needed to be warmed up a bit to feel proper grippy.

That was my thinking, too. I don't want to warm up the tires for road use. And that ultimate last bit of traction probably doesn't even add up to the fun factor when driving on public roads. I'll probably stick to the Goodyears. However I am thinking about which part of my config I could change to delay my order. Sounds weird, but I couldn't use the car before March/April '23 anyways and I need to sell my Tesla first, which is not as easy as I hoped, but I can't justify having 5 cars 😅 Maybe I can just talk to my dealer and ask for some more delay.

First UK dealer demo car has arrived at Caffyns Lotus Sussex. I think other demo cars have arrived today (including the sister Caffyns dealership in Kent), but this is the first one to publicise.

JCT are also running a Q&A about the Emira via the latest Story on their Insta profile - which also forces you to look at a lovely yellow Evora GT410 currently in their used stock before getting to the Emira part. Tempting!
