UK deposit to order checkout to delivery process

I am Jan build, heard nothing other than the enhance and protect email a month ago so I've just called CS, I was told there's nothing on the system to indicate my car is delayed and is very much on schedule for a January build, but then followed it up with the factory has been slow starting back up after Xmas (I still can't believe they shut it down with the state they're in!) And that they didn't really know anything. Clear as mud

Seems the messaging hasn’t changed since I called before Christmas. Doesn’t sound good with the factory being slow to start. Regardless though it’s not the working level that have caused these delays so it wouldn’t really be fair to make them work over the festive period.

I don’t know about others but I’m not *that* bothered about the delays it’s just the abysmal comms piece that is causing the frustration.

Jan or March makes little difference to me in the grand scheme but I am NOT going yet another summer without a car! That really is the last chance as far as I'm concerned

In November I was repeatedly told build was going on and started checkout on 21st told December delivery, from 25th November I was told car was at PDI and all through December told the same. I last spoke to Customer Services 22nd December and told I would hear sooooooon, guess what, NOTHING.

last communication i had was an email 24th Nov, confirming that my car was due for a Feb production and that i would receive communication monthly with an update, to date i have received nothing, so i just called LCC, i was told that my car is still showing as due Feb production, BUT they said that just before Christmas they had to delay some January cars and they are expecting communication to go out in the next few weeks and to expect a delay of about a month!!! not sure how much longer i can wait as plans for early June and want to have the car at least a month before to be run in.

I understand the issue with parts supply, but the lack of communication is beyond a joke.

I had an ID email and followed that up with a call because I had nothing to say it had gone through. I then rang them several times and was told everytime the car was in PDI and I would hear within a few days, last call I made was 22nd December.

Don't fall into the forum over analysing, just buy it, run it for a few months, if you don't get on with it move it on.

Nope. The last e-mail I had just before Christmas was still saying May build but I've not been contacted for my final deposit yet and Lotus CS confirmed last week I can still make changes to the spec and not lose my slot...

My car was built 3 weeks ago and is in the "logistics/PDI" limbo and I cannot even be supplied a delivery window.

Have you been sent an invoice?
My delivery date is 23rd Jan, (checkout email 22/12) and received invoice yesterday. Invoice no. 100

Thanks for the info. I'm very surprised a May build isn't locked in yet, as I thought they were locking specs about 6 months before build. It's encouraging if changes are being allowed only 4 months before, as that suggests parts supply is improving and they are being more flexible. I think yours is an i4 yes? That may be a factor.

Have they told you when you'll have to pay final deposit and confirm spec?

No it's a V6 FE. And no, I've had no indication of when I'll need to pay the final deposit... been expecting a call for the past few months. Perhaps this just means that while they're still telling me May they already know it will be August, idk...
