USA/Canada Delivery Thread

Factory workers knowing what's going on?!?!... I have it on good authority (from other topics on the forum) that the people working on the cars don't even know what they are doing, or why, and are just hammering whatever is laying around together as fast as they can and slapping on Lotus badges and heading to the pub early.
Just to be clear, this was meant as light hearted comedy...

The factory workers know which variants they are building - it's on the build sheet for each car. That includes country/region. The info about a batch of i4s currently being built for China is correct - 150 cars.

Future plans about when they will start building North America cars are anyone's guess. But once they start being built we will hear about it from factory staff and anyone doing a Hethel collection or factory tour.
Don’t tell trackday14 that.

Heard a rumor that US production will start immediately following the I4's for China. However I wonder how bogged down Lotus will get with the issues that will come from the I4? Will this cause additional delays? Seems they should have pushed out the V6's prior to doing the I4's. Also, what is the price for the I4 in China? in US its still blank.

If they're able to keep the build rate for the i4's at the same 20 a day that they're doing for the V6, then building the cars for China will take them about 8 production days, which still leaves plenty of time to get the North American builds underway. I just want to see what an actual North American spec production build looks like, and if the performance specs are going to be different from the U.K./Euro spec cars.

UK and European i4 builds start from late July onwards too...... The production line can cope with mixed build types and specifications though!

I find it very annoying how poor my lotus dealership is at notifying me of anything. I've been trying to see an Emira in person, maybe even drive one (ambitious, I know) but absolutely never get notified when one is around.

Today, I noticed on instagram a car club in LA (where I live) had a Lotus event with an Emira, provided by Galpin Lotus (the dealership of my deposit). Of course, no word from Lotus this was happening, and unfortunately found out about it via the car club that hosted too late to check it out.

My dealership has had Emira's before too, and still I've never gotten a call or an email. When the 2.0 was announced, no word from Lotus. Even when I call them, I often get no response back until I call them about 3-5 times. Really poor customer service. Seems like many other Lotus dealerships have similar problems.

Would be nice to be treated like a customer instead of finding everything out through the grapevine. At least I have my forum pals!

I’m sorry to hear about your poor dealer experience. When things become a bit more normal again (supply chain, demand, economy and other factors) they will seek out your business. I think I would have a long memory. My money will go to those who treated me with respect (minimally returning calls) as their normal course of business.

I had a dream last night I picked up a new Emira from the factory, 2 miles into the trip home, the shifter broke, like the actual shift lever just snapped off 😄 Hope that doesn't happen to anyone.

I thought you gave up the dream and canceled your deposit?
Shifted again?

Had to be a dream since I live in the US and I can't do factory pickup of the car 😄
Ask just about anyone placing a deposit and they'll tell you
'it's their dream car.'
The wait and the acquisition have been the nightmare.
Next time can you dream about lunch with Matt Windle?
;)

Man my dreams of factory car collection are WAY different than having lunch with Matt Windle…….
