Hi,
I`m back after dropping out from the original deposit list and picked up a Ftype in the meantime while i waited for the 2.0 to be released.

Looking again, it needs to be an auto so will either be a v6 auto or the i4, looking through autotrader at the moment.

Re the i4, has there been any specific issues to look out for, how are they? Not looking to start a V6 v i4 war or even manual v auto. If i could go manual i would.....

I know a lot of the V6 issues that have been published, do they translate to the i4 as well?

Thanks for any info, all apprecicated.

Nothing of note, yet. Except for a faint smell of coolant coming from intercooler upper tank, might be the cap vent... Uncertain if this V6 or AMG engine specific.

7 months in and so far very little has gone wrong. Had drivers side window opening, everytime I closed the door, but that was fixed with a reset.
All the cars have the HVAC issue, but thats covered by a Lotus fix, that is covered under warranty and the dealers do usually at first service, unless they see the car ealier
Other than that, I dont know of an I4 specific issue. Emira wide, there is the paint blistering on the doors, and there are numerous threads covering that

Only one small issue, that really doesn't affect anything, and Lotus Engineering is working on a fix. The Rear Indicator fault message will occasionally display in the cluster for short periods of time. However, the indicator is actually not affected and still operates. Oddly, activating the indicator seems to clear the message.

Other than that small issue, its been completely issue free - and a hell of a lot of fun to drive.

Creaky front suspension which was fixed by adding some rubber cups. One CEL when the battery mysteriously went flat but all good since then.

I mentioned my creaky suspension to the dealership this morning, when I dropped it off for its service, they had no knowledge of a "known issue/fix" Hopefully they investigate and find one, otherwise I'll have to suggest it for them

Just to backup that Lotus Engineering is looking at the rear indicator issue..

So I'm at about 400 miles....I sneak into sport mode now and then. I'm a bit underwhelmed. Are i4 owners experiencing something different? Maybe because I'm not high in the rpms? Touring is downright muted too death.....thoughts?

Many have said it opens up after the break-in period. I personally didn't switch to sport during break-in because others have said Lotus could get picky about warranty work later. So, I can't offer you a comparison, but I have driven in sport quite a bit after the break-in, and find it sounds good.

However, after reading the post by @Kaz about the I4 having the engine sound pumped in while in sport and track modes, I now just find myself enjoying the drive/ride and the MPG in tour..

I did run my own simple experiment with music while in sport - with the music loud, and in sport, the subwoofer sounds very over modulated and that gets worse with more throttle, but with the same song at the same volume in tour it sounds perfectly fine.

The actual sound the i4 engine makes sounds exactly like a Honda Civic, it's a 4 cylinder and very civil. Exhaust/downpipe/gpf delete will all wake it up nicely :) Higher in rpms in Sport/Track sounds great in the car but it's generated sounds not what it actually sounds like, that's fine and on the outside it is actually louder. Also when a proper intake is made it will open up all those turbo/waste gate noises too

Wait till it's broken in or you can take it in sport once in a while like I do. My dealer basically told me to keep it under 100, under half throttle and no track mode. Sport is a lot different and the the DCT will try to stay near 3K rpm most time which means you have like over 80% of peak torque available anytime with no turbo lag.

I'm at close to 800 miles, read about my experience here:
