Wonder if any cancellations after Test drives ???

@eclat2emira acceleration is one of the most iimportant aspects of driving experience, sales show that. If you're fine with buying the slowest 100k car on sale that calls itself a sports car then that's great. I'm not, I expect a lot more for 6 figures; like 99% of other consumers which is why Lotus sales are atrocious. And yes the car will be dusted by a 50k BMW and will also lose to a 38K mustang. Since Lotus introduced the 2gr-fe over a decade ago they have done next to nothing to improve it. In the same time GM has made over 20 different corvette engines. Lotus can't even make their own engine, not even one. But sure go spend 100k on a car from a company that doesn't even believe in the platform
If that is what you believe then I am confused as to why you are even on this forum?

@EM33RA that's incorrect as I'm #1 at my dealer. But really appreciate your fantastic rebuttal of my arguments

@eclat2emira because this is a Lotus forum not a lotus fan boy club where we pretend that everything is perfect. The car is very slow for how expensive it is. Not sure why that hurts so many feelings

Nothing is "perfect" anywhere and no-one is saying it is here.

Basef on your comments it appears what you value in a car is at odds with what Lotus is all about.

You are quite entitled to have whatever view you wish, I am entitled to choose not to engage further in this discussion.

@eclat2emira thats an incorrect assumption. I liked the Evora GT but it was painfully slow. Even on a track my M3 was faster, thats sad. I love the way the car drives with the exception of how slow it is. I along with many others feel the same way. Adding another 100hp won't change the feel but it will make the car twice as good. Lotus could have easily done this, not sure why thats such a hard concept to grasp.

@4GIV8M3 Why are you buying one if it's so slow and that's a major shortcoming for you? Did I miss where you explained that (genuine question)?

well there is the fact of the i4 tuning if lotus doesn't lock down the ecu more then amg does 500hp is very doable. With it being reliable. Time is not on the side of lotus . I think march is the do or die month for alot of deposit holders and potential buyers . The reviews will tell alot as will the building prices

Perhaps Lotus is being coy and rating the car at 400hp, when it’s really been tuned to 450hp? Unlikely I suppose, but other manufacturers have come out with such surprises. 🤞🏻

I hope that you are on order for an i4. With the dual clutch and tunable power plant, you’d have the quick car that you’re looking for 👍🏻

What Utter shite according to 'many others'

I find it difficult to understand why people are complaining and trashing Lotus for not having more power and performance in the new Emira when nobody has actually tested it yet. It's also a bit odd to see people complaining about something that Lotus has NEVER focused on. It's not like this is a secret. They've never advertised nor focused on horsepower and 1/4 mile type performance. So why are people upset that they've discovered the Emira may not have the most horsepower or fastest 1/4 mile times compared to other cars?

Lotus is a company that makes special sports cars that are known for their handling. If you're looking for Corvette or muscle car power, then you're probably going to be disappointed by a Lotus. Rather than complain and bad-mouth the company for not making what you want, go buy something else that will have what you want. You're not going to win any friends here by bad-mouthing the company, or intimidate Lotus into adding more power to the Emira cause they've read your complaint. They already have a 2 year waiting list, and the car isn't even on the streets yet. The Emira isn't their power champion; the Evija is. Read the preliminary specs of the Type 132; there's your power. That's where Lotus is putting their focus on for their future, not on the last ICE car they're ever going to make.

Unlikely, as you say, but that would be a nice surprise!

@TomE because I can make it faster by upgrading simple but but now expensive things like the supercharger, transmission and final drive. Something that should've been extremely obvious lotus. The Emira is an awesome car, just not for 100k. For 100k it needs to be 500hp so I'll spend the extra to make it that. Life is short so ill make it work, it just takes more money which I'm not happy about.

@NickR hurling insults is usually a good sign that you've got nothing constructive to say and can't actually refute anything I said. I'm sorry if me saying a car is slow hurts any of your feelings

It’s because the Emira looks like a super car and some people, wrongly, have the expectation that it needs more power. If it had more power it wouldnt be a 60k junior supercar and would be out of the reach of most of us purchasing one..

Probably the exact same reason why Lotus didn't do what you're saying you're going to do. It does take more money, and they too were not happy about those added costs, so they chose not to spend it in order to reach a bigger share of the market at a lower price point. The people at Lotus are not stupid. Power isn't cheap, especially if you have to meet all the crash and safety regulations along with emissions and mileage requirements. You only have to buy some components to add power, they have to add all those other expenses which would push the price of the car out of the market range they wanted to reach.

@Eagle7 respectfully you're way off and everything you said is incorrect. All those have ZERO effect on emissions and the delta between superchargers, gearing, and final drive is MINIMAL way less than 3k or anything people would care about for the huge performance jump. Lotus chose not to do it for the same reason they always chose not to. They simply lack understanding of what new consumers want and they know their old ones will buy anything with a new window sticker on it

@Tonyshepp that should read "The emira is a 100k sports car and people rightly expect it to have the specifications of one"
Sorry keep forgetting in the US you have much more selection at this price point. In the UK you can have more power for the price but for something that doesn’t have the sense of occasion.
