I asked for this update to be applied a couple of months ago as part of a warranty set of fixes by Oakmere in Cheshire. I’ve not noticed any difference however since it came back so I’m wondering if they actually applied it ( they told me they had). Is there any way for me to check the software versions myself and if so what version has the update.

The shift from D - N - R is night and day different so you would 100% feel the improvement assuming you had the original issue (early order). I don't think you can see versions on the screens anywhere. Perhaps with an OBD2 reader?
I had three updates applied recenty. However non of these are obviously the gearbox update. Does anyone have the actual update name as my dealer seems oblivious to it.

If you are up to date on the s/w updates, then you have the gearbox update
Talking to the dealer I used, they are legally obliged to upload all updates that the manufacturer releases, so if you have one missing you take legal action. No idea what that would entail, but in reality it means the dealerships upload them as soon as they see the car.

Taking mine in tomorrow morning - Dealer said some updates are "posted" that he could look up using the VIN and others were only visible once connected to the car - found that statement interesting. Curious why that fact would be?
When did you pick yours up. 1st batch of cars arrived around Jan 25th in the west coast. I did not pick mine up till Feb 11th and the dealer did mentioned that they did a 2+ hours software update before I picked it up but someone I know picked his up on Jan 25th from another dealer in the area that's new to Lotus (since the Emira announcement) and he did not get the updates and will have to go back and get it done.

My dealer did confirm it was applied:
CPC Software Up Date (131 24026) is the one that covers the Controller Central Powertrain for the 4 Cylinder Emira cars.
I did not experience any dramatic change but did not really have any issues beforehand. However I’d say it’s not a night and day difference.

That may not be the update for the delay as the delay is not in the TCU as there's no such delay on the A45s. It's the Slow Geely OS and whatever software datapath that they use that causes the delay and it looks like they finally managed to streamline it

I would definitely contact your dealer and ask them to run you VIN against the update records.
Just got back from the service, and found that there are 5 updates that need to be run - two of which are 3+ hours, so it will be a drop off at a later date. Service rep did run the VIN before I arrived, no updates listed. I was only when they plugged the car in that they got the list he provided. I did ask the service rep put the updates required on the service receipt (picture). I have no idea what each of them are, but another issue that popped up "Right rear turn indicator" fault, but they investigated with Lotus Engineering and they responded with "known issue, actively working on a fix, no resolution at this time".

OK, I received a little bit of information on what some of these updates are, from a Lotus tech - not what they address, but what components they update. He said the IHU is something he has not heard of, and didn't have CPC off the top of his head. He heard of the DIM, and from memory thought is was brakes.
CEM - Central Electronics Module
CPC - Central Powertrain Controller ( @Neil D. @gdotp )
IHU - Integrated Head Unit
DIM - Brakes (maybe)
VCM - Vehicle Control Module
Still investigating what each update addresses, but Lotus tech told me there is no PDF to explain each update - they scan the car to find updates available, send to Lotus to determine if they are required, if yes they apply them. Additionally, I was told that the Lotus update tools will not run off the available high speed WiFi, that they have been using mobile hot spots - hence the updates taking hours due to transmission speeds...
(did not see in practice, so can not confirm)
