I got my nimbus this week. No black pack or privacy and silver wheels, tan interior….but I can’t drive it for 4-6 weeks as I broke my shoulder mountain biking the day before collection!!!! Wait 2 years and then… FFS!

Sorry about the shoulder! Beautiful car though. I like your spec.

Ah no! I collected mine on Monday and have been snowed in last two days, i fell off my mtb in Jan, torn rotator cuff so will be surgery very soon

So just had a 50 mile blast, mostly in sport/track, 6deg, mix of dry and damp roads.
Some quick take aways.

The steering is so alive it actually takes a bit of getting used to.

Noise in track adds a good bit of theater, I'm running in but still feels special

Gear box takes a bit of learning, specifically down shifting from 3rd to 2nd but its a real satisfying bolt action feel and the clank clank adds more theater

Again touring was the right choice for Notts cart tracks

Intact if I was speccing the car again so far I wouldn't alter a thing.

Oh and petrol is pretty shit so far, barely hitting 20mpg over the 50mls and that's running in, I'd expect mid to low teens once run in

Fun fact: I don't have that And I'm also not sure if I got the light at the phone tray. I'll check it tomorrow, but I think they forgot a few LEDs on my car.

Ah yes I think there is some interior lighting settings

There is a difference between ambient lighting and courtesy lighting. I think the strip across the dash on the passenger side comes under courtesy lighting not ambient. The manual does lack a bit of clarity in this!

So another 50 mls with my mate running his m3 touring in this morning.

A few mind dumps.

Niggles:
The Throttle pedal has a curiously long travel reminiscent of my old TVR tuscan

Skipping the music track on the center screen seems hit and miss, can't skip it from the wheel unless it's on the man display

I'd like the full noise in sport rather than just track, or the option to enable a degree of traction in track mode

It's a difficult car to clean and fuel consumption continues to increase 16mpg this morning and thats running in.

The key is over sensitive in your pocket

The good stuff.

Everyone is stunned by the design IRL, wow its bigger and has more presence than I thought is a common one. Not that it's a large car but I think they have elise size in mind.

Anyone that says it lacks performance on UK roads is either a WAY better/braver driver than me, is full of shit, wants to be a YouTube'r or only interested in traffic light grandprix.
Still running in so I'm working that lovely(once it's warmed up) bolt action gear box a lot but it's obvious this has more than enough pace to live with almost anything on UK twisties, RS3 and a new M3 Touring out this morning and had no issues.
Feels super car special but doesn't feel like it's trying to kill you

As a road car driving experience this is easily as good as my 981 gt4

I thought that the tour/sport/track would be the same as the Evora where the exhaust valves were open in both Sport and Track with no difference to sound. So, on the Emira, do the valves half open in Sport and then fully open in track. I know that track increases tickover - which may give the perception of sounding louder (but it is really the extra revs possibly) or is there a noticeable difference when driving? If this is so, what is happens between Sport and Track. I would imagine a lot of owners will want the louder soundtrack but also the safety of at least some traction control.

The valve fully opens even in Touring mode based on what I understand. The valve opens as a function of engine speed and load in order to maintain proper exhaust airflow. Since the engine is capable of developing full output in Touring mode, the valve must also be able to open fully. However, in sport mode and track mode, the valves open earlier at lower engine speeds and loads, making it sound louder. Also, in sport/track mode, the engine fuel/timing mapping is changed to retard timing at low engine load and no-throttle input to generate the bubbles/pops/farts.

The unanswered question is whether the valve is always fully open in track mode. We know it isn't in sport mode. It's a popular mod for valved mufflers to lock the valve fully open all the time. This is relatively easy to do with vacuum-actuated valves but requires a control module for electronic ones. These modules are typically several hundred dollars and may void the warranty since their failure may lock the valve closed and damage the engine.

Nice. And while a touring M3 is a great thing, BMW chose the most horrendous generation. This picture is really the beauty and the beast.

This is one of the things that annoyed me on my test drives, as it's a backward step compared to the Evora.

There is also more ESP intervention in Sport on the Emira than on the Evora. That makes sense when you remember it's pitched as a daily driver, but means there's a big difference between Sport and Track.

One downside of all this is it encourages people to drive in Track on the road to get the full noise, but they then have much less system intervention if they get into difficulties.
