This is exactly what I suspected. Because of the high reflectivity of the glossy surface, cameras are having a hard time resolving the color underneath, so they seem to treat it as an exposure shot and lose much of the color in the process.I do think DV is much darker in images than reality. When not being lit up by sun or lights it is definitely dark but I would also say clearly green unlike in the image above (which seems to have disappeared when I refreshed the page?).
I took the picture below on a wet overcast day to try and demonstrate this. The first (left) is as taken, whereas in the second (right) I have adjusted the levels while standing next to the car to reflect what my eyes were actually seeing.
