📓 Journals Diaries of the first Lotus Emira picked up from Hethel - V6 FE - yellow / ice / silver / sport

This prefix is only usable in the Lotus Emira Journals forum.
Sorry to hear this. Given the PR surrounding your car as the first Hethel handover, and all the positive publicity you've generated with Jayem's review and your own excellent videos, if Lotus had any sense they'd be falling over themselves to put this right. It's time they offered you a replacement car, or at the very least an Emira loan car while yours is fixed.

Appreciate the support guys :) I'm hopeful that the loom will resolve all the car's issues.... I just want it back this month, ideally asap of course. Show season, track season, nice driving weather season - all being missed currently.

I wonder if some of the intermittent issues raised on page 10 of this thread were an early indication of this 'water in the electrics' problem?

You could well be right, especially with fuses blowing.

In all honesty, this is what lemon laws are for. If this happened in Canada, the dealer / Lotus would be taking the car back. That is a lot of time off the road, and too frequently.

UPDATE ON FRONT FAN / OVERHEATING ISSUE

Oh dear.

So it was booked in (5 weeks ago) for this week to have the front fan replaced. Lotus HQ sent up a replacement fan in advance, Glasgow Lotus went to fit it - turns out it's not actually the fan at fault, but the WIRING to the fan. And that wiring is front wiring loom, not just a small part to the fan. So it's a huge job. What's wrong with it? Corrosion due to water damage. HOW!? :(

2nd track day paid for and missed today as a result (May 4th).
NC500 trip done in a Mini courtesy car instead of the Lotus.
2 weeks off work, no Lotus to enjoy / all plans with it obviously cancelled.

Will I get the lotus back this month? Who knows now, thoroughly fed up. Can't fault Lotus Glasgow, or Lotus HQ, they've both done great getting parts in advance - but it's so annoying it needs something else and that it's such a huge job that the requires the front end to come apart.
I mean you can fault them. The car should be fine/replaced/fixed right now. I can’t believe it’s taking so long. Also a Mini for a courtesy car is unacceptable for an 80k car. This whole thing is frustarsrijr a shel

its ok you’re not missing much. Pouring down with rain here and the car is left sat in the garage

6 MONTH REVIEW

I made a separate thread for this, so will link it here.

@TomE appreciate this might be frowned upon, but a 6 month review I thought would be interesting to those that wouldn't click specifically on the owners diary thread. If it's a problem let me know though.

A week on from my 6 month review, I no longer have the mini countryman, now a Mercedes GLC. Still no Emira, no ETA. Hoping to know more this week. All May's further plans with the car are now cancelled, and will have to review June soon - car shows, track days and the Emira being used as a wedding car soon too, I guess I'll have to let people down :(

I would be requesting a replacement car at this point, just unfathomable they would keep you in such a problematic car for this long.

Still no Emira. But I came to terms with the fact that I barely use my modified M4. I've owned it for 6+ years, loved it etc, but the time had come. Over the last 3-4 weeks I've stripped most of the mods off the car and sold them, leaving me with a near standard car, that I advertised on Wednesday late afternoon online, deposit paid within hours, guy drove 6hrs today to come pick it up and pay the balance. Easiest sale ever.

Now. Have I made a mistake? I'm left with a hire car Merc GLC in replacement of the Emira, a Porsche Cayenne S and a Merc C180. 2 SUV's and a Saloon. No 'performance' or 'sporty' cars. I really just want my Emira back, fixed, but I'm finding myself drift back towards 911's again (which I sold to get the Emira in the first place) - this isn't where I thought I'd be!!!!

😳 - Honestly, I would be asking Lotus to rectify this, although I feel has if you have gone down that path already. Get a 718 GTS 4.0 or Spyder/GT4. They may not be as pretty, but at least you can drive it. What a sour taste you are having with your Emira.

If you dealer has other Emira's available, why not trade in your current Emira for one they have in stock?

You have not made a mistake. I have the option to drive my SMB F80 ZCP or my E46 M3 every day or a E82 135. Guess which one I'll sell first to swap for the Emira. Yep...the F80.

Lotus Glasgow have a yellow auto for Sale at £90k with 221 miles on PPF - wonder is someone got it then didn’t suit ? - of course they punching with the price can’t see someone paying that.
Their demo is for sale could this not be used as loan car until yours is repaired ?
Can car not be rejected due to length of time it’s been off road v’s useable ?
