DIY: V6 Manual 1st, 2nd & Reverse Adjustment - Hard To Get Into Gear

In the posts above? Youtube link?

Hard to get a 'better' video than that because its a tight space and your hands and the shifter will be in the way of any meaningful views.

Woops... yep.. I missed that... THanks!

Had a journey this week and struggled to get into first and second for a 75 mile journey - it came and went but was “interesting”. I panicked thinking I’d got some horrific issue, followed this and hey presto it’s all sorted.

My adjustment nut was VERY loose!

Hey kitkat, what exactly do you mean by not smooth? For mine, getting into 1 and 2 it feels a bit rough, sort of like a rocky feeling. If I go back into neutral and then try again once or twice more, it feels smooth. Is this the feeling you’re referring to?

If you go into first from neutral at a stoplight to get started, do you find it easy or difficult to get into first gear, like physically getting it to there or does it sometimes feel like you’ve missed the shift gate. Do you ever find it easier to shift into seconds and then first?

If you can resonate with those you should adjust the lockout plate.

Okay got it. For me, 1, 2 and reverse are rough to get into and I question whether it is fully in gear or not.

100% do the procedure then, the lockout plate adjustment will fix this, it'll make your car so much more enjoyable to drive.
