Okā€¦ so went to the newlands corner meet today.. 3 Emiras there ! Missed you @TomE..

On way home, there is a badly surfaced road with pretty bad camber, but is mostly straight at first, with some fast turns and a couple of tighter bends later on.. itā€™s only about 3 miles long but shows up if a car is too firm. My Exige when in track day setup was a nightmare on that road, just too stiff. It threw me around a bit. It is now in road ā€˜trimā€™ and does have Nitron dampers, and is way better.
Now donā€™t get me wrong, the exige is very quick down that road and fab funā€¦ but the emira blew me away, it was like witchcraftā€¦ even though itā€™s a bigger car, I was able to carry more speed, even only using 4k revsā€¦ was it less fun, not really, as I had that confidence in the carā€¦ very impressive so far
Yep, the speed you can carry in the Emira is quite remarkable, it is also one of these cars that shrinks around you, never feels remotely large or unwieldy, despite it's slightly un-Lotus like weight.

And of course the ability to keep the rubber on the road helps.

Gavan Kershaw being the wizard he is explains the witchcraft....

Maybe this is what he meant when Gavan said the Emira was an Evora dialed up to 11. Maybe he was talking about its road abilities instead of horsepower, which would make sense; that IS his job and he's legendary for it.

fully agree - it really does shrink around you - it has a very similar view out to the Exige - with those Becker points..

I spoke to Gav about best choice for my usage (unlikely to do track - have done that now with the Exige) and even coming from an S2 Exige, he said touring would suit my road trip and Sunday drives use pattern

Another sunny day in Edinburgh, some more green a poppin! With this level of contrast the complex form of the Emira is shown off to great effect.

Ive also been out today in sunny Hampshire, default seems to be track mode for me and its becoming so immersive, and that's running in (sort of)? I think once run in this a really addictive car, but would like a better exhaust and more grunt that Im sure is coming

Apologies if I have missed these elsewhere in the forum where luggage has been discussed. We bought two of these lovely Lotus holdalls during our factory collection after checking how well they fitted in the Emira. The reality is we could have bought four or even six and got them all in!

As per the photos below, you can get two on the shelf behind the seats, either on their sides with the luggage net holding them in place, or sitting flat with the net disengaged but with the seats stopping them from falling forwards (and they are quite well wedged in without being squashed). You could actually get another two on top and still not lose all rearward visibility.

If you take the mini toolkit and warning triangle out of the boot first, you can get two in the boot, with room for those two items to go back in after or go behind the seats. I am 5'9" and the seat is not squashing the bag when reclined. If the seat was fully rearward I think the bags may be only slightly squashed.

they were Ā£100 each in the shop - we put our Ā£50 voucher towards them. Possibly a little bit pricey for what they are but they are light, nicely branded, have a neat separate compartment to keep dirty shoes away from your clothes, have a sleeve section on the side so they can sit on top of a wheel-along case and be firmly secured to the handle and they have a removable shoulder strap.

I've included a photo of the product code, you should be able to buy them in the online store.

These have to be three of the best looking derrieres in the business. The Aston was leaving today and I will never again have a Porsche, Lotus and Aston at the same time so had to get a group shot!

The 996 C4s is widely acknowledged as being one of the best looking 911 rears, with the wide haunches and full-width reflector. The Vantage is great from every angle and the rear is no exception - a design master class from Ian Callum.

I've heard some opine that the rear of the Emira is not its best angle and they may be right but it is certainly not outclassed even in this stellar company.

Immersive is a good word for it - I've never driven so much with the radio off!

Iā€™ve posted this before but it shows what you can do if you canā€™t stretch to fancy Lotus-branded bags and youā€™re prepared to slum it with some Samsonite wally-trollies.

Nice!!
(That wheelgap thoughā€¦šŸ˜œ)
Thanks, and I 100% genuinely do not have a problem personally with the wheel gap, although each to their own. What I am happy about is it goes up my steep driveway forward and backward without grounding the spoiler and going over speed bumps is completely worry free.

I have lowered my 911 considerably and have to "go canny" as we say in Scotland over speed bumps and steep driveways.

I remember seeing that - really useful post and will definitely be one of the options we use. "Wally-trollies" love it! :ROFLMAO:

Just messing with you, I am sure it just looks like this due to the sun shining into the wheelarches. Great car, great colour!

You know you donā€™t have to do separate threads for this?

Hey, no problem and the way the light reflects in some of these photos does indeed increases the apparent gap.(y)

What, no McLaren 570?šŸ˜

Whenever you park on a hill or sloped driveway, the front spring compresses and the back decompresses. I'm not a fan of the look but much a fan of metallic flake-enhanced paint. šŸ˜

That 996 4S rear does look nice. We had a 996 and had the non curvy base car.

Now have a 991C4S with the baby got back too. Helps the look. Disappointed all 911s are 'wide' now.
