Emira insurance in the US

Also, got a great deal from American Collectors for a 1969 XKE I purchased a few month ago, but they cannot insure the Emira because I don’t have a daily driver that’s within 1-yr of age of the Emira. So in order for them to insure the Emira, I would also have to have a model year 2023 as a daily. Really screwed up logic.

Will give them a go next.
Grundy might be a good option for you. Sorry to hear about Hagerty. I've heard a few people in GA complain about really high rates. Again, I think this is more a factor of location than record and age. It often doesn't seem to make much logical sense. Probably has something to do with accident rates and crime rates in your region.

I did speak to Hagerty and confirmed that the ONLY limitation/requirement is that I have another daily driver but otherwise I can drive the Emira wherever and whenever I want as long as I'm within the mileage restriction. I don't know how tightly they check on that as this is my first "special car" but I'll try to keep things above board and adjust it to 5K miles if I need it.

Thanks for the Grundy tip. $1,300/year no mileage restrictions. And bundled with the XKE it's only $1,600.

Did Grundy change their usage rules. I had them years ago and they were VERY limiting in what I could use the car for.

Just said it can't be a daily driver (have to have another daily on a separate policy), but okay with just going on joy rides. Not sure how this could be monitored.

So I just checked out both Hagerty and Grundy for my Evora GT.

Hagerty's online quote was $2,568/year, which is ~$600 higher than what I'm paying already with State Farm.

Grundy... I honestly didn't even bother after looking at their dated website.

Website is dated, but comes highly suggested by the one classic car shop near me that does vintage repairs.

That's a solid endorsement. I was shocked when they told me they could add the Jag (which is more valuable than the Emira) for an extra $300/yr.

Fine... I'll get a quote from them too. BUT it's more than the rate ya know. The service has to be great too.

*nevermind. Just read through some reviews. I'm good with State Farm (for now).

I would call Haggerty directly or a local broker who works with them. I’m sure price will be lower. Just a suggestion

I finally got around to calling my insurer, Statefarm to get a quote. To my amazement they quoted me just under $1400 per year. that's about $400 more than the M2 I just sold. I'm shocked (based on this thread) but also happy. In Wisconsin, $500 deductible.

I got Grundy firm quote, $100k insured value, $50.- deductible, $1,160.- annually, alternative Hagerty, $110k insured value, $1k deductible $1,360.-

the grundy deductible of $50.- id the highest they go in NC, they accepted my 2 dailies being a 2015 and 2018 BMW Suv’s, no mention of concern, I recall another poster stating that they refused him because daily was older then 3 years……I think it differs by state, in NC

That was me, and it could be different by state or just by the person you talk to at Grundy.

Edit: Also, it was my 2015 Q5 with less than 100k miles that they denied as a qualified daily in New York.

What were your deductibles? Tinkering around the lowest I can get is 195 a month. EDIT- Ok down to 176 a month with 5k deductibles lol.

I currently have my GT on my State Farm policy as well. Similar rates as yours. I’m going try Hagerty for a quote.

I felt the same way about Grundy. I initially went with a policy through them but cancelled quickly after doing further research. Lots of fine print and after hearing a few horror stories I just went with State Farm.
