Emira production is underway

Not sure when these pictures take, they on face book,
It would suggest they taken this morning ?

If production has started, you would think the trolleys would be full of cars in stages of build, ? or at least see more cars around in these pictures

This is absolutely infuriating for so many reasons. Dude gets to go take snaps on the cell…

Dark Verdant found on the car carrier that the Magma is on?

F#%£ing Lotus with all your technology do you have a tool there that removes your heads from your a$$e$?

Why are we getting cell phone pics from a dude on a private tour?
What in the literal F#%£ are you thinking?

Some folks had to choose their spec already and some have to here soon but gosh dang it forbid we get some F#%£ing pictures to go from. F#%£!

Totally agree. I moaned to CS and they said I’d be able to see the colours in June!! FFS

On another note, some guy on face book, asked me to stop asking or attacking Lotus :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

"Miguel Hernandez
Andrew Morris ; would you please relax your style of question and attack is why lotus does not share stuff and you then discourage others to share. Lotus have an operation that they are running, this car will take a while to get out. I am happy to know lotus is taking it slow early to make sure they get it right rather than full speed and push out a bunch or errors. Taking this approach will avoid people blasting them later for going too fast. Dammed if they do dammed if they don’t."

Guess what......

So reason you can not see many cars on the pictures , they ramping up production, should be at full speed by June.... they in effect making test build cars at the moment.... evauation cars.... taking there time ? Mat Windles words kind of.... ?? sorry so first production car are VP cars still.... its a point wrongly or right....

There's also the possibility that they're taking the approach of letting informal photos show the cars so we can see how things are going, without them being official color photos. They've gotten a lot of feedback about people wanting to see what's going on, and this way they can let us see the cars in FE colors without being sued for color accuracy if the car you get doesn't match a color photo. They've undoubtedly noted the hostility from some people on the forums, but at least we're beginning to see some images.

I'm also thinking that some of these early cars might be dealer demos which would explain the standard wheels.

These were taken by multiple Lotus owner Phil Stevens this morning (Saturday) while on a personal tour of the factory with Matt Windle.

Inevitably these are getting loads of down/uploads and reposts all over social media, including some subtle and not so subtle image processing. Plus lots and lots of questions and speculation. I've asked Phil if he can upload the originals direct to here, so we have them without Facebook's compression.

You can see Phil's original post (and all the reactions and questions) here:

It's pretty daft for Lotus to let photos leak out like this (I say leak, but they're with Matt's agreement) when everyone has been crying out for months for decent pictures. A few phone shots are interesting but there still has to be some caution about over-analysing them. These have been taken indoors under artificial light in an assembly hall that's only got the weekend lighting turned on, not the full working lights.

They're a decent representation of the colours if you take all that into consideration. The Hethel Yellow does look like that indoors in artificial lighting - wait till you see it in sunlight!

Why don't they get pictures of each colour taken professionally - it would be so much better!

Yes Tom, and you have mentioned before about leaked images.... Oh and a pretty good slap in the face for those at lotus that have for what ever reason not let pictures out

I do take issue at they wilst they have started production ?" THEY SEEM ONLY TO BE DOING" PRODUCTION VP" what was it they were doning back in January. Yes I understand productiopn needs ramping up, but come , from what Mat said 2 months to get up to full speed... we both saw at least 30 cars built, pluss ones all ready on the road. There is pre production and production..... and we not yet in production for customers cars

They've just done week 1 of production, still in ramp up. So very low volumes at this stage and hence it doesn't look full. Cars that look finished or nearly finished may not be production-spec, as validation cars will still be in the hall. They've only started building a handful of cars this week, so may not have finished any/many.

Strange how they all have base wheels. Still waiting on delivery of the forged maybe?
Could be that, could be transit wheels (use a basic wheel during build and fit final wheels at the end), could be base spec cars for validation or press use.

Yellow looks amazing & the yellow calipers don’t look like a mismatch to me.
Is that dark verdant lurking in the background? 🤔
Trust me, the calipers don't match! It's the lighting and image quality.

It could be DV, or it could be Shadow Grey. Or Meridian Blue :) The image quality doesn't really help and there are non-FE colours visible in the assembly hall. I don't think it's DV, as Phil said he didn't see one today.

Wondering...... these photos ( and the thread of Nimbus grey color cars) show photos of these cars apparently in early production......but are these customer configured cars ?

Has anyone here locked in their configured spec with their dealer where these would be production customer cars being made from actual customer orders ?

#ForTheCurious
Very unlikely you can see any customer cars in these pictures. They only started production build a week ago and only started one or two cars while they ramp up. Those will be for validation, then they'll build press cars, then the dealer demos. Then customer cars.

As I've said above, the finished-looking cars may have started build before this week and so won't be production cars.

All the UK V6 FE deposit holders for first 5-6 months of production have locked in their specs.

Production, as I understand it, doesn't necessarily mean "customer ordered" cars. I believe FINISHED production level cars are what is required for DOT testing and such... and from there, potentially dealer demos in final production trim, and not prototypes with 3D printed components. From the global delays in EVERYTHING lately, and considering past new vehicle launches... it would seem that they're making sure they do this right, but at the same time, staying relatively on track. We're ALL anxious.... myself included, and I'd SURE love some professional level photos of the colors we have yet to see on the actual car (I've had to lock in my order HOPING that the DV is going to make me happy)... but let's keep things in perspective and keep our fingers crossed that the timeline we're on stays the way it is. A few months delay is liveable.... let's hope that's all it is and enjoy these little leaks as we get them.

They're not test build cars. They are production cars. As Matt explained on Facebook, they take one car all the way through the full production process from start to finish. Then they evaluate it. They see if it needed any extra QA steps or rectification work during build. They look at whether any of the build processes or controls or training or documentation or systems or tooling need adjusting. But the car they have built is a production car.

Honestly, I think Matt just let his friend take some pictures. I don't think it was a planned "leak" or that any thought went into the taking or publishing of them. Someone in Lotus PR is probably having a panic attack about them being all over the internet :)

I've owned 5 and was allowed to visit but not take photos. Phil's owned 6, so presumably I needed to have owned one more to get the photography badge :)

See my other post. you can be "in production" as soon as the first production car is "in build", which it was last week. Production car doesn't mean it's a customer car.

Come on. EVERYONE AT LOTUS must know the importance of colour photos by now....
