Going beyond 7k RPM: A Thread

They only make tunes for manual transmission for right now. But I believe the “shift” we see light up goes on at 7k not 7,200
I edited the above for clarity. I was meaning that it should move the visual feedback on the display to correspond to whatever the configured redline is.

Do you guys know if there are any videos of people who have modded their Emira's or Evora's to achieve high RPMs with aftermarket valve springs? I'm curious what the car sounds like at 7-8k RPM.

I still don’t understand the 6800 rpm limitation… our car need to rev til 7200-7400 rpm to stay into the better power band curve longer and better symphony for the 👂 hear either. Win win situation . Still waiting for an ecu tune solution other then Jubu at 6-7KUS - 10K$ canadian….

Olympic Motorsports has posted some dyno videos tuning Evoras. I know some of them are revving past 7k.

I’m pretty certain that my Evora 400 (same engine, same gearbox, same power) revved to 7200

Olympic Motorsports offers soon an ecu reflash. I am waiting further details if they can make it go 7200+ with a 460+ tune they can have my money! They charge 3000usd which is what it should be.. not jubu style 6000!

Yeah, my GT revs to 7200 in sport mode.
That’s why I am wondering why they lowered the Emira to 6800rpms. It doesn’t make any sense other then make room for a better car version later on based on a marketing point of view.

From my point of view I am pretty sure they can get 30-40hp at best with just an ECU tune alone. To get 50-60hp you will need some minor bolt on part like intake, exhaust on top. This car deserve a 450hp to have a great power to weight ratio and to be as fast as a Cayman GT4 with 414HP.

The limitation is from California emissions requirements. At high RPM, engines are often tuned a little richer and emit more hydrocarbons for that reason and because there's less time for combustion. This is the issue that delayed the Emira's certification for more than a year.

Oh my! That means the entire world must own a car with 16hp less and 400 rpm left on the table for 1 state regulation ? Could they have a custom map for their car shipped to California dealer and another map more agressive for the rest of the world instead ?

Exactly the same reason they released it with less power than it's predecessor. Slap in the face to the customers IMO.

I believe over a dozen states have adopted or will soon adopt CARB standards, so it’s a not a one state issue.

EU6 emissions are pretty dang stringent as well, and they target CO2/km as well. The new EU7 will probably mean the end of the V6 altogether. I'm happy that I have mine already. It's an old school, port injected, simple engine.
