I'm about to install the 3rd cat delete pipe and I've seen that some people are also adding the Milltek Valve Controller.
Apart from the ability to open the valves without engaging Sport or Track modes, what's the advantage????

Nothing more than that.

Militek will allow you to full open the valve when you want. Something about how it does open after 4k in Tour, and maybe even in Track or Sport it still doesn't fully open??

I haven't seen any "logging" to show, but I skipped the militek because I didn't want to be bothered by the little remote, and if I want to change my exhaust behavior, I can do that with the factory modes.

Someone chime in to confirm, or call me out for being ignorant.

Yup, just allows you to control the valve. Also adds weight and introduces additional points of failure, however low the probability. Still, many consider the ability to control the valve far outweighs the cons. I have a set waiting to be installed next time I remove the diffuser.

It’s the best modification, I have the GRP, when installing the Milltek controller , PUT IT TO THE SIDE OF THE BUMPER. It will melt if left by the muffler

Sound changed from the low rpm range, which no matter what mode you are in you won't get that without the controller.

I was going to fit the 3rd decat, but found the valve controller makes it sound much better than it did with sport/tour modes. As for extra weight just leave sunglasses out of the car :)

You can program the Open/Close features to your HomeLink if you have that option and have 2 available buttons to use.

Sure. I could (though I don't think I have homelink so moot). But, how is that any different than me taking a moment to toggle back to Touring mode or bumping to Sport mode if I want a louder experience?

The factory valve logic isn’t fully open in sport/track. There are times and engine speeds where valves close or partially close even in the aggressive modes. This is especially evident in lower RPM ranges. With the valve controller, you can fully open the valves at all RPM’s. I have both and there is a noticeably volume and tone change between Milltek mode 1 (fully open) and Milltek mode 2 (OEM valve operation).

I believe every car that's a first edition has home link.

Also add others have stated. You can fully open the valves at low Rpms which don't fully open until over 5500 rpms(I believe that's the number).

Either way you get a much louder experience with the valve controller in all modes.

Search my post on this and I give a detailed breakdown of my experience with a friend's car I did the install on.

Homelink was an optional extra.

There are also times that you may want the exhaust to be 100% open but also to be in touring mode or sport mode. It is my understanding that only track mode allows full open. So if you want full open in touring or sport, you need the controller.

Homelink was a NO COST option in the US. Milltek has 3 settings, open, OEM, closed, never use closed. My Homelink is programmed 1 garage door, 2 Milltek open, 3 Milltek OEM.
