GRP Short Shift Kit

Has anyone compared the Aerie short shifter to the GRP? Curious if there is any difference in feel and throw length.

I have the GRP (45-60% throw reduction) and I have it set at 45%. The Aerie short throw claims a reduction of up to 30%. Other than the difference in throw reduction I see no reason to pick one over the other. They both operate on the same principle of reducing the radius at which the force from the shifter is applied. Aerie claims that over 30% reduction could compromise the gear box, but that sounds suspect to me. I’d go with the one that offers the travel reduction you want. I didn’t think the stock throw was overly long so the Aerie offering may have been better for me in hindsight.

Thanks. I posted earlier that I actually prefer the OEM throw but find 1st a little loose and reverse not going in all the time. Just wanted a tighter feel.

I was trying to reduce some forward and backward play while in gear when I bought the GRP short throw. It didn’t make much difference. I don’t mind the shorter throw though. If you have a hard time getting into certain gears, I’d look at a cable adjustment. Some guys have had success with that.

After installing the short shifter, gears 1,3, and 5 almost have no travel up from neutral but 2, 4 and 6, have shut half the oem travel distance down from neutral. Any suggestions?
Many thanks.

Yeah did you do the max setting?

I did and it’s like this and neutral sits little to the right.

This looks right. If you’re having trouble with shifting I would experiment with a different amount of screwing in the short shifter to shorten or elongate the overall cable length. It will change the neutral position and should help.
