Emira Fan
Just for fun. If you sold your EMIRA and bought another vehicle what would it be? (Around the same price or less than the EMIRA)

It seems like you had convinced yourself enough reasoning to move on from Emira. Wish you the besti hear you.
Its not so much the Emira in isolation, its the fact I'm running two cars. At some point, I'm going to have to replace the BMW (athough arguably with it being a diesel its good for another 100,000 miles yet) because at times I need something more practical than the Emira. I cant do a run to the recycling centre with a boot load of cardboard or put the dog in the back. Add in an extra £600 a month for a BMW replacement and then it opens up a few options.
Okay, the 911 might not be ideal but I'd be able to use the bigger space behind the seats but I do think I'd be underwhelmed by the 911 from a steering and handling perspective. The build quality and residuals might be better but I'm not convinced its a better drive.
Sorry bro but that's delulu.
The only place you're going to get sub 3 0-60 is in a spreadsheet.
I know any car I'd replace the Emira with would be a downgrade. The Emira represents the pinnacle for me; my magnum opus and swan song. I can't think of any other vehicle that's not millions of dollars that can top the Emira in every category (styling, responsiveness, manual, feedback, grip, comfort, etc.) I will attempt to hold it forever because it's downhill from here.
If they made it with shorter gearing it would be twice the driver's car that it is. What a great overall package though.A manual 911T would be awfully tempting
Doesn’t the new 992.2 911T one have shorter gearing and a move to the more engaging 6 speed from the 7 speed? If they made it with shorter gearing it would be twice the driver's car that it is. What a great overall package though.
I had no idea! I looked about 3-months ago and the online configurator didn’t even show a manual transmission was available.Doesn’t the new 992.2 911T one have shorter gearing and a move to the more engaging 6 speed from the 7 speed?
Absolutely not. Its just the arguments that go on in my head. I bought the Emira as an 'occasion car'. An end of week reward for a busy and hard week at work etc. Its just the sensible side of my head feels the need to chime in and say 'you're wasting money on something you rarely use'.It seems like you had convinced yourself enough reasoning to move on from Emira. Wish you the best
No, its not a problem now, it'll be a problem when time comes to replace the BMW. The 435d was paid off years ago and only costs me about £80 a month not including fuel. My thought process at the moment is to save 20k and throw it down on a used M240i in a year or 18 months time. The monthly then would probably only be about £250. That would give me the practicle and winter car option. I run the BMW on winters to give me that bad weather, ice, salt etc practicality. So the problem is a BMW 435D plus and Emira is too much cost and not enough practicality? I think a 992 Carrera 4 GTS or fully loaded M4 competition are going to feel too compromised. If you love the Emira why not keep it and downgrade the 435D? Practical cars can be had cheap and the Emira will easily scratch the sporty itch.

I love the Emira, but let’s not get nuts. There are sub-million dollar cars that I would trade for. There may not be sub 200K cars though.
Sounds like you’re ready to move on. Anecdotally I can share that my M2 was one of my least favorite cars I’ve owned. The 2 series platform is just cheap, and mine rattled like a tin can to the point where I had to sell it in less than a year. Fast though! Good luck with whatever you decide next.In some respects you're probably right. Its not the car I need but its the car I want. An M2 or something similar would probably be better in the offering of performance and practicality, but then I use the Emira or just look at the damn thing and I cant imagine swapping it so I just swallow the costs.
My current thought pattern is to save enough over the next 12 months that when the time comes to replace the BMW, the monthly on its replacement wont really be noticable.
Completely understood.Absolutely not. Its just the arguments that go on in my head. I bought the Emira as an 'occasion car'. Completely understood. It’s an awesome car well packaged for its price. Find time to enjoy her, you deserve it!Absolutely not. Its just the arguments that go on in my head. I think “slaughtered” is quite an embellishment. The same 911T that was slaughtered by the Emira in this comparison for being too bland? For me, It doesn't have the styling or driver's engagement to compare to the Emira. Only the GT 911s are compelling to me personally (GT3, GT2, GT3RS, GT2RS, R, S/T, speedster).

Manual, rear-drive sports cars are brilliant - and very rare now. Which of the best is better?www.pistonheads.com
Just did a quick search for fun and Ferrari has most of the front runners. The 488 pista and SF90 are intriguing, yet no manual and turbocharged. F430 and LP560 are interesting but I'm not entirely convinced without spending significant time with them. The first gen Ford GT is the choice that's gives me the most pause.
