Insurance Options for US Market

I will add that I found an agreed-upon-value policy with my current insurance. It only had a mileage limit but was treated as standard car insurance in every other way. It was more expensive than the collector car policies, but fit my needs.

Ok, reviving this thread since a lot of you must have already had insurance for a while. I am switching from Geico since they are wanting to charge me $3k/6mon. which is ridiculous. I got a quote from Hagerty for $3950/yr with 7500miles driven and the other is Grundy for $1400 with the same miles driven.

One is way less than the other but I have never dealt with either. Grundy makes me sign a waiver that states, I will not use the car as a backup or to run errands. Hagerty is not making me sign anything.

I got a call from Hagerty insurance agent to clarify why I put down 7500 miles and I explained to him that I intend to drive it on the weekends and even weekdays for pleasure. I work from home so the car sits in the garage and I also have another car to "daily". He was fine with that and I also put down $109,500 as the value of the car since that is what the cost I paid before all of the fees.

We have Hagerty and put down $5k miles. I’d like to use them for the Corvette but the not daily driver part screws me. I drive it to work all the time since it’s the best on gas mileage haha.

Our annual premium is only $2k which is shocking given where we live. I thought that was pretty reasonable.

Dropped State Farm $2515 and went with Grundy, $1450.
Switched from Progressive to Geico today now that I have my I4 VIN and my premium only went from $720 to $828 (6 months) by adding the Emira. $2500 deductible, but thrilled with the premium considering what others are paying.

How many vehicles are on your policy? I will have 3, including the Emira. I think $828 for a newer Audi, Mercedes and now Lotus is very reasonable. Hopefully Geico didn’t make a mistake.

I have 7 so does help provide discounts for multi. Am super happy with the rate on the Lotus looking at some of the 2-3x that others are paying .... feel very fortunate.

I’m not sure I get why folks go with special providers like Grundy etc instead of one the big chains? I’m with GEICO and get good rates and they’ve always been great to deal with.

I don’t see this car as being collectors cars or having particularly hard to find comparable values. Should be fairly normal. I don’t see a big chain giving you 50k for a car that’s worth far more

Yeah Geico is $3100, everyone else is at least $5k. No accidents. No points.

So you are happy with them?
I have only been with them for a year and have not filed any claims, so assessing them from this perspective is challenging. However, I will say that their customer service is excellent. I had a claim showing up on my record that was the result of me being hit by a car as a cyclist (not at fault). They were able to research this and dismiss it. The resulting quote was nearly half of what State Farm was charging me.
