I think this has been mentioned before but I won’t go for factory PPF or ceramic coating. if I protect my Emira (probably will) I will get a specialist to do it. It’s definitely a tricky thing to get right and I have heard of poor results from lots of dealer or manufacturer supplied PPF including recent anecdotes on the Emira.

The current "factory" PPF option is only available for those collecting from the factory and isn't actually done by the factory. They are sending the cars to a local specialist in snetterton (Elliot at Detail Your Eye Candy) who is an XPEL certified installer and has great reviews all round.

If you have the option of collecting from the factory, I wouldn't be concerned about going for one of their PPF packages

Just gone through checkout and noticed you can’t select a PPF package. I’m collecting from factory so when is this arranged?

Contact LCC and they can arrange it. Unless it’s changed since I picked mine up, you pay separately for it when you get there.

FWIW, I've been talking with a lot of pro detailers and PPF installers and most agree the factory paint quality is very poor. One claimed Lotus had a bad batch somehow early on but the most recent PPF pro had this to say... Almost like their paint isn't baked or cured properly. 😬

Ah, I feel a bit vindicated :D

Hence the PPF all over and then ceramic on top.

Hi All

Just wanted to see how many of you are considering going for a PPF/Wrap on their Emira?

This is something i'm seriously considering, what are your thoughts.
Yes seriously thinking about this - do Lotus do PPF as a factory option, I heard a rumour this was a potential

Only if you opt for factory collection, per the post above.

If you go for dealer delivery they will usually have a local PPF specialist they recommend and they’ll handle getting it done before you collect it.

Has anyone had any prices for factory PPF and Ceramic as personally tempted to get partial PPF and ceramic before driving it. I’ve got prices from All that Gleams as recommended

Check the post linked above, it's got details of the different packages and their prices from Lotus. The packages themselves are actually applied via DetailYourEyeCandy in snetterton

I had mine fully PPF’ed before I picked it up from Kumschick Cars near Lucerne, Switzerland. They recommended a local specialist who did a very nice job despite all the compound curves. I had to wait a couple of weeks but it was worth it. The tricky bits seemed to be around the small vents down each side of the rear screen. It was frosty weather,, and the film came unstuck for a few millimeters around a couple of the vents where hot air exits from the engine bay. Warmer weather has allowed it to relax and its all good now. I’d definitely recommend the PPF.

I spoke to B&C about the soft paint, the clear coat already looked scratched in places with the car sat in the showroom. I was quite surprise by this but given I'm having ceramic this should be corrected. I was told that the soft paint issue was on early cars and has been resolved. Not sure if I'm convinced by this explanation.

Just had mine wrapped. Xpel Stealth over Seneca blue with PPF on the black pack. Looks Great!

Wow, the Seneca wrapped in Xpel Stealth looks amazing! Any pics outside in the sunlight?

Some (dusty) daylight shots. What I've noticed so far, is that when the car was gloss, the color obviously picked up all the reflections and the hue changed according to what was around the car, etc.
Now, with the satin wrap, the blue is always uncorrupted and almost looks like its glowing from within.
Regardless of the finish, it is essential to PPF the car. I had mine for just one week and the black pack was full of scratches and swirls. The paint was also marred in spots I had cleaned up bird droppings and it is so soft you can literally put marks in it with your fingernail.

That looks incredible the sun! I was already going to PPF the whole car in Xpel, but now I am thinking I may do Stealth as I have Seneca on order as well. Thank you!

Took my emira back to have the ppf install checked and asked about the paint being reported as soft. He said it was absolutely fine in his opinion. I don’t have the Black pack though but having had a black car before I didn’t fancy the maintenance tbh.

What are peoples thoughts on the factory PPF?
Are many factory collections having it done?
It seems more expensive than what people have paid at local detailers.
However, I want to factory collect and am concerned about a 250 mile drive home without it.
