The inevitable faster Emira

If I want to go really fast - I'll take my R1 out for a spin (if you don't know what an R1 is spoiler alert it's got half as many wheels).

Yeah the car drivers are the issue. I have a dirt bike I ride off road and I trust myself to stay safe. Being on road with a motorcycle means trusting everyone else.

I was considering buying a motorcycle the past few months but reading up on statistics and how incredibly angry my mom was at me gave me pause. unlikely I will now

neither my Emira or Evora GT has this problem, what is the mileage of your Emira, was the break in done correctly?
Break in was done correctly. Both emira I owned had this issue, others above have reported the same

it’s only at high rpm shifting from first to second not normal driving

Break in done correctly here.

Manual transmission bona fides:
Only daily driven manual transmission. Ever. No automatics.

Personal car history- 2nd owner high mileage 1991 Taurus SHO as 1st car, owned since new 2006 Mustang GT, and now 2024 Emira.

My Mustang, which rolled over 140k miles literally yesterday, is still on its original clutch despite many, ahem, “spirited” launches in the past. You try not doing that when you’re 21 and have that car brand new!

Anyway, not that having driven a standard that long means anything, other than to say I have driven those and many other high(er) performance manual transmission cars for a long time, and at least now have a good sense of “mechanical sympathy”. Mostly because now I really really don’t want to pay for a clutch job on my Emira!

This has been commented on a few times on car reviews that the gearbox doesn't like first to second high rpm changes. Mine also had that issue. Apparently the gearbox didn't come from a high revving sporty car. I wonder if the gear ratio change kit JUBU sell would make a difference?

For those with 1st - 2nd shift problems, see if you can get the gear linkage looked at. A small tweak can make a difference. I’ve had mine done, as with my Elise previously and the result is much better both 1-2 and going into reverse.

What exactly do I say to the tech when I ask him to make a tweak?

It is the same issue in the automatics too only on 1st to 2nd. Not an issue on the DCT on the 2L though. I really think it’s an issue of the transmissions they chose on the V6s

There is a shift plate adjustment.

Yeah, from all the info I read, it's a repurposed diesel transmission. So, while the Emira has probably the best iteration, it's still not an ideal transmission for a sports vehicle. Personally I don't (I do, it's money & development times) see why they didn't try to repurpose the AMG dct to the V6 manual, would've been a great upgrade.
