The watches thread

First off, love the Breitling Superocean.

That said, I stick to 39-42mm. Just my preference (I’m 6’-2” 250 so it’s purely a size/wrist thing).

Great choice!

My fiancee has purchased this for me off of my dad who never wore it ahead of our wedding in May. I’ve always been interested in watches but never taken the dive (pardon the pun). I already can see this is equally as dangerous as getting into cars… i completely get it now. Just read through the thread and you all have really cool watches!

I am a complete watch novice. I’ve been to get the strap resized today and realised this is the 46mm. I had tried the 42mm on in the shop previously. I have a thin wrist and I’m wondering if it’s actually too big or if it’s just personal preference thing? I compared the 42mm and the 46mm in the shop today and the 46mm just felt a lot more substantial and almost like I was missing out on something if I changed to the smaller one. Can anyone offer some watch advice please? Is this too big on my wrist or if I like it that size that’s all that matters?

Yes wear what you like!

Looking at the lug to lug it's probably technically too big but I wouldn't let it worry me.

My wrist is just under 8" and I've got a couple of whoppers, that 51mm oris and a 48mm Breitling superavenger

Thank you both! The shop are going to quote a part exchange for me anyway so I can consider it at least. Like you say then, lug to lug it’s technically too big. Thanks for the advice

I had this Omega passed down to me when I turned 21 which is a 36mm I think. I wore it everyday, the strap eventually broke, I never replaced it and hadn’t worn it for years so I bodge stitched it back together to wear it the night I proposed 😂 now it has family history & I like the stitching and what it means, it’s a bit fragile though

@emiralust Lovely watches! Wear whatever and however you like. If the size feels good to you, keep it! There is no right or wrong.

Here's my tiny-wristed poor man's watch collection. :ROFLMAO:

Tissot T660 Titanium, Seiko Kinetic Sports 50 in green, and an MB Microtec H3 Traser Titanium.

The first was my father's, the second my grandfather's, and the third my own. None of them special in any way except sentimental.

I used to have several much nicer watches, but none of them developed any long term attachment for me, particularly the bigger stuff which tends to look comical on a dude with a narrow wrist. In future I'd like to get back into the hobby, but extremely low profile (sub 10mm thick) and restrained size men's watches (37mm dia and smaller) are actually kind of hard to find nowadays. This looks fantastic for the price but I have a few other projects to finish first.

Highly unlikely, maybe long term
I agree, @benjh1028 - this one came out in a really (in my opinion) overpriced automatic version and a more attainable quartz (which also is overpriced in my opinion as it's not an automatic).

Edit - I was yet again telling BS or mixing things up. The very expensive one was a Tourbillion and what I though was a quartz is actually an automatic. So prices may be okay 🤷🏻‍♂️

At best you would get your money back if you find somebody willing to pay for it. Don't buy it as an investment. In general, if not PP Nautilus or Rolex Submariner in steel at MSRP I'd stay away from "investment" watches at that moment in time. Better get a Seiko or Sinn and enjoy the hell out of it without worrying about resale value. ☺️

I'm waiting for a 126600 as I prefer the red writing and slightly smaller size.
Just got the call today. Waiting about 3 months, seems that the market situation is definitely relaxing on the dreadful waiting list game.

I had the call on a skydweller this week I'd only registered for in November! She basically said theyre getting a lot more pass on watches at the moment

Oh, that is definitely a bigger change then. For a Sea Dweller it didn't surprise me that much, but for a Sky Dweller you could have waited years before. Good for the people that enjoy the watches and don't just go for the flipping game.

The times they are a-changing... Somewhere definitely is a "I'm out" thread in a Rolex forum. 😅

I bought another one too. 🙃

I didn't even realize it was the Eagles colors until my wife said something. I wore the orange one to a Flyers game last night. 😂🤷‍♂️
Nice! Well, except the Eagles colors…..

Does it come in “Atlanta Falcons mathematical elimination red”?

@benjh1028 @VL3X congratulations on the Seikos! I can't wait to get my hands on some vintage Seiko timepieces soon, but I promised myself that I have to sell another watch first.

@TomAce excellent variation of one of the all time classics! Can't go wrong with a Speedmaster. Only thing that I don't like is that they aren't that water resistant...

Yes, it‘s the ceramic material used and how it’s been done that caught me, Speedmaster is a classic. I really like Omega, it’s probably „my brand“. Also have two Certinas, which as brand I also really like.

This one is still on my bucket list:
