UK deposit to order checkout to delivery process

It's 100% false. A few members here, like yourself, are all having builds done before then. This is a concern for me, as I feel like the guy was just stringing me along, and I'm going to get another considerable delay which is going to force me to pull out.

What email did you get about the schedule?
Here’s the latest so I assumed all good to go soon. And I won’t be pulling out it will take as long as it takes 🤗

I also got the "contact in two weeks" bit on my mail, but no price protection as didn't order until September 2021... I rang them, so i assume the contact in two weeks would have been "your not getting it until July onwards". See what happens this time next week.

I have not received that other email though, so you are definitely in a better place, all looks promising!

Not sure this is the correct thread but here goes......I am currently still in with my deposit placed for a V6 FE (manual) in June 22. My current estimated production date has slipped to Q2 24. Does anyone know the extent of cancelled orders following the price increase and production delays, and the likihood of being offered a cancelled order for a similar spec car? I have seen a number of people who have had such an offer and advanced the queue and taken delivery recently. Ever hopeful!
You’re in the right thread. I might copy this into the order-to-delivery process thread too.

If you’re open to taking a cancellation then it’s worth talking to LCC and explaining what you’d be prepared to accept in terms of differences from your current order. They have a formula on what counts as “similar” and who they offer cancellations to. If you’re flexible on several aspects you may increase your chances. Good luck!

Do they take care of private number plates? I'm thinking I just do it myself at my leisure to avoid even more delays! lol.
Yes they will, you just need to give them the reference number off the retention certificate or scan/post it t them. You then get a nice set of personal plates already on the car when it's delivered, including "Lotus Cars" in small type as the supplying dealer.

So my car was £80700 , I put 22k total deposit Inc the 5k they had, the finance sliders take this into account on the checkout page where as they don't on the general site. I did 30mths which gave the lowest monthly with that deposit at £551pm, I'll likely not keep it that long so just keeps the payment small.
The call this morning just followed up to say it was all accepted and that they would be in touch when lotus supplied a registration for the rest of the deposit and yo sign the e docks
Unfamiliar with UK financings. Is this a lease? Trying to understand the math to get to a 551 per month .

Great. Sounds straight forward

It's called a PCP, personal contract plan, so after the 30 months there's a final gfv, guaranteed future Value, to pay, in this case 54k, you can either hand it back, or more likely the car will be worth more than that sell or trade it and use the equity towards the deposit for the next one

There's a box to check in checkout, I decided not to do it straight away for two reason, keep it as simple for lotus as possible 😄 and I fancy a 23 plate on for a while as I'm March collection
I had my checkout email this morning and got through to order processing stage at which point it froze as per other reports. Im running Safari so rather than try again I rang Lotus and a nice lady did it all over the phone in 5 minutes, then a call from Lotus finance straight after confirming payments etc. Really simple and efficient.

Something about this math doesn't work in my head. Only £551 a month and then a balloon payment of £54k?

In the US it's the reverse, but if you put $54k down up front the monthly will be way higher than $551 on a car with the same numeric value financed for the same period of time.

Are you missing the £22k initial deposit?

and he is talking GBP`s ! 😜

I'm confused (by Lotus CC in this case).

I've already paid £2K initial deposit and a £3K second deposit. Got this email (below) today. Are they wanting a third payment of £3K, or just confused that I've already paid? Also, does this imply that my car is in any way shape or form somewhere close to production? Should be July according to my last email (not price protected :()

Not see this before, seems like they’re trying to figure out who’s going to cancel or stick with it, after the recent price increases.
Unless it’s some sort of error. 🤷‍♀😂

Sounds to me like Lotus aren't really sure if you have paid your 2nd deposit. With them saying "If you believe you have already completed payment.....", someone must think that you may have paid but they have lost track of the payment. No doubt when you give them more information, date, time and payment method, they will be able to track it down (hopefully!). If this is the case, it is further evidence of incompetence and demonstrates again that Lotus are not ready to be a Business to Customer model, but it seems Lotus/Geely don't care and there doesn't seem to be any sign of anything changing soon.

I'm not sure that "they don't care", but it would appear that they've tried to change too many things at once.
  • Business to Customer model
  • New production facility with automated vehicles and paint spraying
    • Possibly also "just in time" stock control, too
  • Two production shifts
  • Trying to launch Eviya, Emira, Eletre, Type 133 within a short space of time (echoes of Danny Bahar)
  • New engine, both liaising with AMG and the technical problems of installation
  • Coping with new senior management, in Geely
On top of that, there's a vegetable shortage in UK, so all the turnips farmers are busy ...

I think I can explain…..

After all the delays many of the cars got kicked off the fixed production schedule, I also got this email a few weeks back so called CS as I too was confused. They explained that no further deposit was required as I like you had paid the 2k and the 3k deposit. They also explained that now the new portal system is set up that all I had to do was access the link and re confirm or re configure my Emira again, once this is complete you are then locked in for production again and can access your portal for updates when ever you want.

This email now gets sent out 3 months before your car is ready to go into production and the next email should be the enhance and protect email 2 months before and then the check out a month before delivery.

Lotus CC said this process has been set up for all deliveries for April and beyond. Good news really as is seems Lotus are beginning to get their shit sorted ✅

It would be great if it was 3 months from now - currently July production slot.

This would sort of make sense ….
1st of march today 3 months before production, June checkout and July delivery.

The second shift is confirmed now and CS told me there is a lot of cars going out in March, let’s hope this goes smoothly so there is no knock on affect for future months of production.
