USA/Canada Delivery Thread

I think the only market with those particular constraints was the EU. China barely has anything resembling a regulatory apparatus, hell they are still selling cars there that would fail 1980s US or European crash test requirements.
I think with China/Asian/EU market is the gas guzzler tax. V6 cars are taxed heavily due to emissions. My guess is V6 Final year will be 2025 calendar year. So 2 years of Base/R/GT V6 versions. All other hot versions coming after will be i4. Which will be sold to all markets at a better price point than the V6 it will replace.

Geely can not wait to get rid of this ICE car and get the electric sports car up and running. It's really the more important aspect to their branding/marketing going forward.

I know folks will be frustrated with this, and for good reason.

For me personally it's good news, and I'm in the camp of Lotus please take your time and get the car right. I bought this car with forever in mind, so I'd like to stay happily ever after.
Yes. This. Absolutely. 100%

If this is true, then I hope that I will be able to place my order in summer of 2024 for a V6. I will be extremely upset if I miss the cut off date because of production delays.

Isn‘t it time to start a discussion around the possibility that this car never gets to North America?

Nah, they're coming. Will they be on time and mostly problem free? We'll see, but they've already been delayed numerous times and there's obvious QC improvements needed.

They'll get here eventually. I heard a stat saying something like 1/3 of all Emira orders are from NA. That's not something Lotus will just give up on. Plus they're building a few new dealerships with new branding and the Emira is literally their only vehicle that's close to ready for sale.

I don't think that'll be the case, but I do think they will be produced for a very limited time before full transition to EV. This might also affect parts supply for the vehicle for long term ownership.

Bad news is better than no news I guess...

This really sucks though, will be getting the car after more than 2 years of waiting with a deposit and will only be able to drive it for a couple of months before winter hits.
I hear you. I lived in CT until age 27 when I experienced year-round driving ecstasy in Southern Cali. I still remember keeping my motorcycle and Corvette parked for a good part of every Winter.

My concern is that the Emira is not make-or-break for the Lotus brand. It's the 50k Eletre's that they're planning on selling in 2023. What if they only sell 1-2k? What if the Type 134 takes an extra year and also undersells? How much money will Geely be comfortable losing every year before they cut Lotus loose?

I wouldn't underestimate the importance of the Emira. Lotus is Geely's performance car halo brand and they will not let it fail. That would drag the entire brand down at a critical time of multiple launches. A non-launch in the US would absolutely be a terminal situation for Lotus, IMO.

Can Lotus dealers legally hold their customers hostage with nonrefundable deposits while not following through on delivery dates?

My second deposit form states:

“$5000.00 Non-Refundable Deposit to Confirm Allocation and Allow Emira Build as Required.”

Nothing in the deposit form related to delivery dates, since none existed at the time of making the second deposit.

Nothing on my order form states "non-refundable." It's just a CC authorization and the spec sheet form.

First Eletre deliveries starting in June apparently, at least in UK. Not sure when US deliveries are due to start?

Hi is it early next week yet?
Hi kitkat of past, is it early next week yet?

I know we've had some dealers report back to their reservation holders and orders, but still no communication from Lotus?

I was told by my dealer that we will be emailed directly from Lotus…Lotus didn’t even tell my dealer the details of the delay…My dealer asked me to forward him the email when I receive it!
