USA/Canada Delivery Thread

He’s from Canada not USA. Canada got a tiny little 70 car allotment for FEs, so the majority of Canadians are getting a price increase for their deliveries.

This thread topic is US and Canada car deliveries.

I was originally more inclusive in the way I wrote that but then dropped the Canadian reference on a re-edit.

I don't believe that Canadian FE cars got a price increase either. Is this even an early deposit situation?

[edit] I found it, he's #39 in the order queue at a dealer that got 12 FE cars. So likely never got to the hard order stage for a car.

Really? Why am I under the impression that the 700 NA FE cars were 500 for US and 200 for Canada?

Maybe I’m wrong I remember seeing 70 recently.
Oh, maybe my understanding is out of date. I haven't been paying much attention to the Canadian guys. LOL.

All the communications that people have received from US dealers indicates that there will be no price increase in our market. So I don't know what you're on about.
I’m a base model in Canada. Lotus has still not confirmed base model pricing and true availability yet. Unfortunately, I’m not one of the FE orders with assurance direct from Lotus USA.

This from Gator Motorsport today. Note that it includes US and Canada.

Last week, Lotus Cars UK announced immediate price changes for the Emira in the UK, Europe, and other markets around the world. Lotus Cars USA has made the following clarification about pricing in the US & Canada:

The level of cost, particularly regarding production, supply chain, and logistics, has increased significantly and to the point where in certain markets, we have announced changes to the retail price. However, please be advised that this will not apply to US & Canada customers with FE V6 Emira orders already submitted to LCU and sitting within the production system. For these, the price will remain locked at $93,900 plus options and inland freight.

Gotcha. So you don't have an order yet, I understand now. It was a deposit against a future (not yet released) model. The only car that's been released for ordering is the V6 FE.

I really feel this — the “everyone else has the same issues” excuse only lasts so long. So many cars from other manufacturers have gone from prototype to announcement to order books to deliveries in a fraction of the time that Lotus has had to deliver the Emira.

This excuse needs to just stop.
Including the Eletre.....

Correct.

Placed my deposit in July 2021 but because Canada doesn’t get many FE’s, at least not enough for me to get into the FE club I’m left waiting. If there weren’t all the delays I would probably be much closer to or even have an order by now. I’ve been ever hopeful but the whole thing is getting long in the tooth.

Still love the Emira but I want new wheels so I’m moving on for now. I don’t blame Lotus for the delays, just the way they’ve mishandled their communication channel to customers.

I may revisit Lotus for a future variant.

I wish Lotus and their dedicated customers all the best. And Lotus needs to remember that their customers...are the best!

Just got another update from another rep at my Lotus dealer that first deliveries in the US will be in August and not June or July. They also didn't reply to my question about price increases.

Based on this new date for FE, can someone estimate when BASE Emiras will now land in the US. Some people on here have kind of figured this stuff out.

No clue. They haven't started the hard order process for those through the dealers yet I don't believe, so at this point I think it's anyone's guess.

For what’s it’s worth...

I just talked to my dealer who’s currently at the Toronto International Auto Show with an Emira (of course) on display.

I informed him I was canceling my deposit (I’m a base model/Canada) and he told me that if I held on I would still be realistically looking at spring 2024 for delivery.

I told him it’s just been too long and he totally understands.

Who knows what will happen, but there’s always hope for the rest of you.

Leave it in for the GT version...

Thank you. Just looking for something to put in my head. I am still waiting for production to hit full capacity. I am just nervous until that happens.

LOL good luck with that! The closest there will be to a "GT version" is some bolt-on carbon accessories. With emissions regs getting tighter worldwide and the need to produce 3 new EVs in the next 3 years, I see zero chance Lotus will do any model updates to Emira before it ceases production.

I have an early base allocation. Haven't submitted order to dealer yet. Told in December to expect to order around May.
Expect car delivered in early 2024. Realistically hope before summer '24. Will be almost 3 years if goes that long.

I wonder if they are including vehicle storage and third party PDI in "logistics". Remember they had to store a huge number of cars awaiting parts. Costs associated with storage damage (rusted/seized brakes) could also go in that category.
It’s not those, though it may be a factor. It’s flying components to get round sea cargo and customs delays and issues. It’s people getting on planes from China with suitcases full of parts as personal baggage. It’s sourcing from two suppliers because it’s not clear which one will actually deliver to the promise timeframes and then paying both of them. It’s not just prices of shipping a container.

This is the clearest statement about what’s happening (trust Gator to get it clarified). North America V6 FE cars where an order has been placed with the factory have a confirmed price at the original figure. Everything else is potentially increasing.
