When I called the dealer, which was the first day of deliveries in the US, they mentioned that they had 3 dealer spec'd cars available. By mid-afternoon, only 2 remained of which I deposited on one of them (meaning one was left). The dealer gave me the configurator code for all three that were available and luckily one spec was close to what I wanted 3 years ago. I do not believe these were cancellations or previously reserved by customers.
It is definitely a FE manual at the 2.0 price point. I have high suspicion that dealers were not reaching out to waitlist customers the first week of deliveries in the US. I called MANY dealers who had cars available due to cancellations. They were willing to offer the cars up at varying prices at or above MSRP. These dealers definitely did not go through their waitlists first to see if those previously signed up customers wanted in on the cancellations.
This is the reason why I started calling dealers instead of getting on a waitlist. I ended up reserving a dealer spec'd car and not a cancelled car (per the dealer, not sure if this is actually 100% true).
