What did you do to your Emira today?

Now that my Emira is at around 400 miles, im preparing to do oil change but I dont trust myself with this car so DIY is out of the option. Planning on taking my car to a shop, I know dealer charges a lot, so do you recommend taking it to Jiffy Lube or any oil change shop ? can anyone help me with this?

If you've ever changed oil in any other car, you can easily tackle it on this car.
DO NOT take it to Jiffy Lube‼️

I wish I can enjoy more time with my car but I dont do well with tools so i think its best to trust specialist to do it. ^^

Jiffy Lube or any other "fast oil change outlets" are NOT "specialists" and should be avoided. They want you in/out quickly, since volume is the name of their profit game. Many won't let your oil fully drain (saves time and money as well, since less new oil is required although they'll charge you for the correct amount), or possess/use the proper oil or filter, and they may not have properly trained/supervised staff. Years ago, my brother went to that type of oil change shop...by the time he drove home, his engine lost much of its oil: they didn't tighten the oil pan drain plug enough and it fell out part way home. Fortunately for him, home wasn't too far from the shop. Lesson learned...

I'm about to issue warning points for this one. ⚠️😳

You have a $100k mid-engine exotic sportscar. Do not take it to any of those quick lube economy shops. Learn to do it yourself or take it to a speciality shop that's familiar with these cars and doesn't employee inexperienced techs with little to no respect for your vehicle.

Go to any reputable enthusiast mechanic (if that’s even a term). I know a few in OC that I trust but you are in Pasadena, probably too far for you.

I took my new BMW to a Jiffy Lube once and even that was too exotic for them.

they didnt know how to set the computer after they did the car check up (keeps track when i need to replace stuff) so now I cant trust what my car says regarding maintenance

absolutely no way should you bring the Lotus to one

I'm down to drive to OC if I have to. Can you recommend some shops for me?
Galpin Lotus is in Van Nuys.

15500 ROSCOE BLVD.
VAN NUYS, CA 91406

On the map it looks like Ventura Fwy to the 405, and north to Roscoe. It's on the right by the 405.

If all else fails, there has to be a Toyota dealer in Pasadena. They might be willing to do it.

I am in OC and would like to know a few places I can start checking out.
For BMW I go to MRF in Lake Forest. For Porsche Redline in Orange. For Honda, SoCal Motorworks in Orange.

These guys are all specialists in those brands and are top notch. Fair pricing and honest. I’ve trusted them for many years.

I have no idea who works on Lotus so I’ll be on the hunt outside of warranty work. All these guys can do the general stuff like alignment but I like to find specialists. If I can’t they will be my backup.

I prepped my garage for the teardown and rebuild via the Quick Jack 6000ELX.

The crossbeam adapter is the heaviest part of it. It's just a big hunk of metal.

Just gotta remove the rear wheel and pull the fender liner and it's pretty quick. Most people who complain about it being a difficult job tried to do everything from the top. Removing the stock airbox from that cramped space can be a bit of a pain.
Im late to the party, sorry.
Wheel/wheel liner 100% does not need to be removed to do the filter or an intake kit on the Emira.

Our mirrors are replacements but all others Ive seen are stick on.
You would have to cut the roof panel out to make it a replacmenet type piece so that has to be stick on/glue on.
Do your mirrors fold electrically like stock?

Thanks, I bought my car from there. I just don't want to give anymore ridiculous profit margin to a dealer.

There's a Toyota dealer near Foothill and Rosemead in Pasadena.

3600 E Foothill Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91107

They might be willing to do the oil change. It's a Toyota engine after all.
