I seriously considered a C7 ZR1 but the prices were just a bit too much for me. I really did want a hard core ‘bonkers’ type car, with a manual trans, and ended up with this ‘20 ZL1 1LE. it’s one I’ll never sell, as I fear there will not be anything like it made in the future (big displacement supercharged manual transmission track oriented missle!).

Yep, that looks like a keeper and quite a weapon! I hope it's a guided rather than unguided missile!
The NSX is actually an amazing car IF you are willing to modify. The stock car just isn't up to its potential and not "super" enough. The gap between a stock NSX and the way I have mine configured is night and day. If the NSX was released closer to how I have mine configured, they would have had 0 issues selling it. The 2 big changes upgrading the power to 700HP and upgrading the rear setup from 305/30r20 to 325/30r21.

Very happy for you OP. You will love that car! My GT4 gets delivered on October 29th. Freeze date is August 31st, so I still have a bit of time mess around with color and specs (I know this is frustrating for you Emira guys who are locked in for months already), but I have been staying away from doing that thus far. I placed my 10k non refundable deposit with my dealer on May 7th.

Ferrari will always get looks. Not to mention the NA V8 of the 458 sounds absolutely incredible. The people almost certainly heard it before they saw it. Unfortunately, the Emira and the GT4/Spyder do not sound as nice.
Yeah but doesn't the 458 cost something like 3 times as much as the Emira? The fact that the Emira can compete on the basis of looks with cars that expensive is pretty impressive. As Chris Harris said, it's a lot of car for the money.

I am not arguing the value of the 458 vs the value of the Emira. The other poster said "this will also happen to the emira", and I said I think the people heard the 458 before they saw it. They probably heard that ridiculous engine, went "what in the bloody 'ell is that" and looked at its beauty when it went by. When people see the Emira, they will definitely look at it, because it is beautiful. But lets not confuse the sound of a naturally aspirated v8 from Maranello with just about anything else on the market. There are very few engines that sound like that, and they all cost more than the 458.
Who was confused? The only reason people would look because of the sound would be if the driver was revving the engine. If the car is just cruising along, it isn't going to sound much different than anything else. An open top Ferrari is going to get attention because it's a Ferrari. That happens, even if it's just parked somewhere.

Yeah that's true, but I don't see that as much different from people buying and wearing expensive clothes, or jewelry, or a Rolex, etc. A lot of people do that sort of thing just for the attention. Nothing new or unusual about that. I always wonder what kind of attention they think they're getting though. Whenever I got something nice and showed it to people because I thought it was nice, more often than not the reaction wasn't necessarily positive. I could tell they weren't happy for me because they were thinking about themselves, and the fact they didn't have (and maybe couldn't have) whatever it was I was showing them. It didn't make them feel good, and as a result I didn't feel good either.
I learned a long time ago that showing off was generally not a cool thing to do. Nowadays, depending on where you live, it's getting downright dangerous.

No I don't... just saying. The "shortcomings" are more about the company and its performance (or lack thereof) than the Emira itself. We've all beaten it to death by now. It is what it is. please explain the Emiras shortcomings for me to drive in Hampshire. Stanstead House last Sunday some very expensive cars but the arrogance and show of wealth from certain quarters was truly outstanding. One chap said I quote " yes I was going to buy that but couldn't quite find the will pay £2509K so didn't "pull the trigger" What a bunch of complete wankers long live lotus old schoolYet you consistently quote the Emiras best in class looks as an argument against any of its short comings. Having had and driven bright colored cars in the past, yes they do get attention but it's the attention of the police I don't want. Driving along in a line of cars all going the same speed, and having a patrol car zoom up and cut in front of the car behind me so he can pull me over for speed is really annoying. Why me? My car was bright red, and the others were gray, white, silver, etc. I stood out and got attention alright... don't need it.
I ordered DV because I wanted a dark green, although I almost went for Nimbus. If a pearl white had been available as an FE color? I might have gone for that too. I'm okay with DV though. Just waiting for it to be built and delivered.
Shortcomings are subjective, everyone has a different priority list.
For example, part of the fun for me is almost never seeing another one. Other people could not possibly care less about that.
Yes, well the exclusivity of the car is a statement about the car, which I agree is going to be special. However there are a significant number of shortcomings for Lotus the company, in a lot of different areas they are going to need to address and improve if they expect to survive. If they don't improve and tighten up customer service which includes communications, just having a great looking car won't be enough to keep them in business.
Due to inflation and the condition of things in the world right now, the marketplace is in a massive state of flux. There's never been any guarantees, but the amount of volatile uncertainty at the moment is considerable. People's priorities can change suddenly depending on how the winds of change shift. In an environment like this, providing customers with confidence and security is going to become more important than ever before.
I wouldn't take anything for granted right now. Lotus needs to get their complete act together in a meaningful way, and the sooner the better for them and for us.
Hate to reignite an old topic but the vast majority of buddy’s to the new Lotus brand are firstly looks from a great sports brand. If it looked like a pig I wouldn’t be buying one no matter how it went round corners. Truth is Lotus made a car for the masses and That meant good looks and compromises on the handling. But boy them looks.
