Anyone received their 30 day notification yet?

They’ll be ready soon. Best not torment yourself! If that shipment had everything needed, emails would have gone out.

Seems like multiple suppliers and multiple parts are having issues.

I’m no expert in these things, but if a widget is on a container, either by air or boat, then there’s a reference, container number, shipping consignment and also a tracker on the vehicle it’s travelling on. Ship or otherwise.

A Lotus person doesn’t just go to the port or airport to see if there’s anything arrived today. Do they?

Especially as comms (via forums) said back in Jan/Feb that supply chain issues weren’t going to be supply chain issues for the Emira.

If at this stage (mid August) only 30 cars or so are sitting around waiting for widgets to finish them off, add to the continual pre-production disclaimers for the test cars even recently, then I’d think there are far more problems at play here than we know about.

Even the driving academy doesn’t have finished, production, cars.

If I was still holding a deposit (just waiting for the monies to come back) then I’d be resetting my expectations for December or new year now.

But they’ll come. Just seems that it’s going to be a lot longer for the factory to get all the bits and go into full swing.

Still a great car and worth the wait!!
It's here!!!!!
I opened my postbox this morning and lifted out a 1" thick packet from Lotus.

With giddy anticipation I ripped through the brown envelope, slid out the contents and saw...... not my contract but..... the Lotus Road Rat magazine.

Oh well. I'm sure it will be a good read.

Without Tom's contributions, we would have known practically nothing about the car. Case in point: sport vs touring suspension. His efforts are much appreciated, and without them we'd all be shooting in the dark. You may be happy with that, but most of us aren't.

I run a small business; I manufacture specialist products of my own design, with raw materials and processing sourced in the EU and UK, and customers in 37 countries. I've had 300% increases in some raw, material prices and crippling disruption to my supply chain from the pandemic and Brexit to deal with. The one thing I always do is treat my customers as my number one priority. If I promise something (e.g. an email update next week) I deliver it. If I can't promise something or something changes, I don't just remain silent; I communicate. I'm under no illusion that if I failed to do this I would not have a sustainable business, no matter how desirable my products might be in the short term.

Lotus would do well to understand this - it is not hard to do, and this kind of radio silence is the mark of an arrogant, over-funded company who are basically treating their customers with contempt.

On the one hand we hear about Lotus testing a gazillion tyre compounds. Then we hear 'oh no, this tyre and this suspension setup doesn't work properly together'. Nothing on the website or spec to say this, obviously, so we're in the dark: Lotus permit us to spec a compromised car and we're none the wiaer. Then the conflicting official information on ride height between sports and tour... It's beyond a joke now.

How to do it right is so laughably easy to see. Good luck to you sir

In layman’s terms what is the compromised situation with the sports suspension coupled with Goodyears ? as this is what I have spec’d. Or will it just be the likes of Stig that would notice this ? not little old me posing around in my Emira trying to burn 🔥 boy racers off lol . I have no intention of tracking the car. It surely can’t be that bad else why would it be offered to spec that way TIA

thats perfectly true......
I think one issue we have here is that many of us here are business owners, or have been and we are expecting those that work for a "large" organisation in their own individual department to behave like us; this is not my experience. Throw into this the internal politics, the foreign ownership, the staff who left, newly entered and others promoted, the off premises CS department and you have a recipe for a "Lotus...." and thats what we have an absolute Lotus and I dont refer to Lotus the car, but Lotus the company.
I give up expecting some common sense and a proactive rather than reactive approach from the CS department, I give up expecting solid leadership and direction from the leaders and directors of Lotus.

Obviously I know nothing re their internals and can only summize, but in 12 months time, I would be amazed if there had not been a changing of the guard throughout the company. This is far from Team lotus, this is everyone for themselves it seems and no team or togetherness and there is an overall lacking of concern.
Anyway, we can and are and will talk about it until we are seneca blue (what a colour!) in the face and xxxx, but this side will not change. In fact, I am almost dreading the 30 days period as thats when we will have much more contact with CS and at that point you really need to trust what they are saying otherwise there will be some very very annoyed people.....
May heaven above the seneca blue skies help us.....

Hi, where do you get that magazine from?

The 8 week delay is the same 8 week delay we were told in the Matt Windle video and at Goodwood. It’s not a new extra 8 weeks. I’ve checked this with a few people at Lotus as well as with LCC.

My first official delivery month was June, then first delay to July, then 8 week delay to September.
Hello, I ordered the Emira with automatic transmission. Can you say something about how long it will take until the first cars are delivered to germany? Is late September 2022 realistic? Thank you in advance for your feedback.

Sorry, I've no idea on any delivery dates at the moment.

I've been told mine is still September and some mainland EU dealers have been told their demo cars and early (first 1-2) customer cars will be in September. UK demo cars will be in August but some dealers haven't had paperwork yet. But I'm not sure how much credibility we can give to these dates given we're in week 2 of August and there should be more supporting evidence of activity running up to September deliveries by now.

None of my Lotus contacts can give me any update apart from a vague "more news soon". There's supposed to be more info this week, but that's what they said last week and the previous 5 weeks.

It could all be good news and confirmation for the first batch (or more) about specific timings, or it could be we're about to be told about further delays. Let's wait and see.

There’s a lovely Aston Martin Vantage AMR 2018 plate for sale at Emira money on the upside. Just need to talk the wife into a change of vehicle !

Hi Tom, any more information about the 2 containers seen at Hethel by Forum members participating at the academy on Friday?

No, nothing. I’m just waiting like everyone else this week, keeping my fingers crossed the update email is actually sent this week.

As posted elsewhere, I’m getting nothing from my contacts. No one seems to know what’s going on. Updates are apparently “coming soon”.

If it’s bad for us it must be bad for Lotus no cash flow coming in from sales of cars but still staff wages to pay. Speaking to one of the local farmers where I live getting new agricultural equipment is just not happening due to a lot of parts coming from Ukraine.
I’m glad I’m in the first batch of cars, or was, can’t imagine ordering the car now and waiting years.

Thank you Tom. Hopefully an email sometime this week explaining to us what is happening.🤞👍

There is absolutely no compromise for Sports with Goodyears. The Goodyears just perform a bit worse on track than the Cup 2s, which is completely logic. They perform better in other areas like rain for example and they won't be worn out after 10.000km. Some forum members just made that whole thing up because some reviewers said that it's a compromise. What those reviewers meant was it's a compromise to have the street biased tires rather than the track biased tires when testing on track.

That is a good point about non existent Lotus cash flow since they stopped production of the 3 E's last December. I know there is issues with parts supply at the moment. But the lack of cash flow would surely focus the minds of Lotus staff to pull out all the stops to get cars flowing out the gates. I was originally told I would get my car in March, so from a company point of view, we will have at least 6 months lost production. A massive loss of revenue i think.🤔
