Anyone thinking twice about buying Emira?

I did ask nicely.

Please continue over here:

Am I the only person that has absolutely zero interest in owning a Yaris. WTAF? I know one person that's had one to daily alongside his 570s, bought into the hype kept it about 2mths.
I imagine theyre fun for a drive or two then you realise you've just chipped ya nans car 😂

Have you driven one?

No, it could be genuinely mind blowing and I still have zero interest in it. Its a yaris. Just not my thing at all.
Ahh, I see! I thought you were digging deeper into 'what's all the hype of the Yaris' rather than you just don't like it because it's a Yaris!

I didn't buy into the hype myself either as I thought it was another car every YouTube influencer bought for views, but I was disproved after driving one.

Nope I'm pretty shallow 😂 be like marrying an ugly man/woman just cos he/she was good in bed, your happy for 3min a day and embarrassed for the other 23hrs 57min.

Each to their own I just know I'd get bored of it very quickly and tbh I'm 48yrs old, I've done my hot hatches, I have no more business driving a yaris than wearing a coat with goggles in the hood.

Gosh I had to make sure this wasn't Emiraspain's post 🤣

Now you are trying to get me to talk Yaris so Tom ends up setting up a "talk about Yaris" thread!
I will bite though as its justifiable on this thread.

If I was not to get the Emira one of the main reasons for me would be because I couldn't also justify keeping the Yaris (yes it is that good). Where as if I got a Spyder, Alpine or Evora GT410 I could.

Have you ever watched any of the videos about the creation of the GR Yaris?
It truly is a last generation ICE car. So much so that due to Covid cancelling the World Rally calendar it lost its chance to actually perform as now all cars have to be at least hybrid.

So you have this amazing Rally homologation special created by the head of Toyota Akio himself in conjunction with some legends such as Tommi Makinen and it will never even go racing.

YET we can buy one for half the cost of a Base Emira! Fantastic!

i had one..kept it for 180 miles..... drove it 4 times...
seating position is like a tractor and made me feel like an 18 year old yob...

no your not alone... not everything Harry says is gospel.. but if u need 4x4 then i guess its more fun that a range rover

If you care a lot about looks and image (as you do ha ha) then I can see why people literally overlook it.
The seat being too high is literally my only complaint (yet you do get better B road visibility!)
It's a tool. In the same way all the best Rally Cars are.
Love the fact its so good out of the box. I put some ppf on the rear arches and some mud flaps on mine and that's all it needs.
If you live somewhere with poor B roads, poor weather and want to to cover ground as fast as possible its probably unbeatable. So again perfect for me but understand it isn't for everyone.

Don't get me wrong I appreciate it for what it is as a petrol head and I'm sure if you leant me yours for a weekend I'd have fun, BUT, I wouldn't buy one, it's just not for me. If I wanted a hatch I'd save myself 20k and buy a minty 205 Gti. (Actually in my long term plans)

The yaris is just not my thing. I met Doris here at a local cars and coffee though and she loved hers! 😉

Its not only ugly on the outside, it repeats that amazing feat on the inside.. haha... car snob...
Also, its a TOYOTA.... as I said, car snob.
but yes, for wet roads, narrow lanes..... good fun, but I would need a blind fold to drive it so could be dangerous.

Im also not a fan, but I think the previous subura hooligan cars also beat it around a track..sure I saw a video on that.
Anyway, no 2nd Emira thoughts here...least not leading to this car, so really should be a pub chat..with a nice bag of crisps

For me it was a chance to jump on the train i only dreamed of as a teenager playing gran turismo and discovering evo's, scoobies, etc.

Taste is obviously personal, but I'm one of those who looks back in the carpark at my GRY with 🤩!!!

They are fun, but only at silly speeds IMO. Doing the daily commute is a little underwhelming, due to a lack of soundtrack. Heck I've even managed over 40mpg 😴

You will be lucky to get a decent 205 Gti for less than £20k now lol.

The fact its a Toyota is a good thing of course. For all the same reasons the Lotus die hards defend the aging V6 lump in the Emira.

Name another 'ltd edition' focused sports car that comes with a 10 year manufacturing warranty and has a service plan that costs 25 pounds a month and covers 2 service checks a year.

Nope it's faster than all of the old guard as std.
I can say that having had a Evo 6 Tommi Makinen edition back in the day. In fact its pretty much the same speed over the 1/4 mile as that car.
