Emira Issues - from final production cars

Anyone had problem with gearbox. Just lost all forward gears but can still get reverse. Maybe a small adjustment. On back of aa lorry with plenty of time to spare!!!

Geeze.. Manual right? Sounds like the linkage needs adjusting. This is the second case I've heard reported recently.

I was stuck in first, linkage had to be readjusted.
All gears sound bad tho, they aren't all on the same link?
Does it shift into gear at all? Or not able to move the stick out of the reverse gate?

I can get into reverse and back to neutral but won’t move back to the right almost as if the reverse select is not releasing. Not sure how it works and have now gad a look at trying to get at it but didn’t want to risk damaging any of the trim. Only picked it up yesterday so I guess it’s going to a dealer

Sorry this happened. Keep us posted what the dealer says.

Correct call! Sounds similar to my case then. It's going to be adjusted and grease applied all around and you're good to go. Shouldn't happen, especially not on the second day. But it's a lotus you know? 😂

And another visit to my friendly dealer for a coffee and a chat while they swap my faulty tire pressure sensor.

On the way to the dealer I noticed that the AC doesn't work anymore. No matter which setting, only hot air coming out the vents. Turned out that the error codes showed it was "locked" (?) and the status had to be reset.

I also mentioned the wiper issue again... 🙄 The owner of dealership promised to mention it in a meeting with Lotus.

They need to have Lotus fix it now... more like months ago... not just "mention it in a meeting." It's a safety issue that's been reported by many owners.

I know what you mean, but the dealer (who is not part of Lotus, but a separate company) can't write the code to change the behaviour himself. If the boss of the dealership raises that several owners face a safety issue in a business meeting in front of Lotus execs, it's probably as much as they can do. More than "just" the service crew reporting the problem back to the Lotus service people.

250 miles in ....

ECU error
Tyre Warning indicator
A/C stopped working
Brake light failure
Condensation in rear lights cluster
Coolant hose leak
Fast wiper issue
Paint issues

This feels like a challenging ownership prospect .....

I think that’s Bingo

@Wolverine how did you find / determine the coolant hose leak?

I ask as I have a new issue this weekend that I'll be reporting to Lotus tomorrow. It overheats like mad when idle. If I'm stationary for more than a few minutes with the engine on, it very quickly gets to 116+ degrees (instead of the usual 90). If I start to drive it cools back down to normal temps. At these temps it flags up various warnings red on the dash. So something is definitely wrong, it's idled without overheating fine before.

Definitely sounds like a leak somewhere and/or air in the system. Do you smell anything unusual after driving? Could always drop the rear under tray and inspect for leaks.

I also have the TMPS issue along with
Piece of trim broke off from the sun visor first time I moved it
No Nav option available in the infotainment
Driver seat creaks like a ship at sea
500km on the clock so far

400km in there is no issues apart from one, I think they forgot to fill up the A/C gas as 16 degrees (C) is the same as ~24, and if you turn the A/C on and off the temp of the airflow doesn’t change, I’ll have them look into it. Apart from that so far no other issues.

The orange peel in this paint job is absolutely awful. Like, cheap bodyshop repair awful.

I start the video right on a really offensive shot, but you'll see it throughout the entire thing if you care to watch it. Some nice video of the car.

Pink coolant all over the garage floor. Been lucky as was driving car with no coolant.

The paint on all Emira's is pretty awful. Unfortunately, flat colours blue and yellow have the most orange peel.

I would STRONGLY advise no Emira owners to have home delivery. The car must be inspected under strong showroom lights or with a detailer light gun. My car had a number of issues ... small scratches, paint swirls, machine sanding marks / overburn, polishing dust between film etc.

I rejected the car initially and Lotus had to take it back to the bodyshop and repair. However, even then it still wasn't great. My detailer who applied PPF film told me he had to effectively do a "used car detail" paint correction ... he was shocked at the quality and also how soft the paint is.

Sanding mark on bonnet …
