Emira production is underway

The "funny" part to me, was that when I first put down a deposit, and joined all these forums, I actually saw a TON of posts from the old guard of Lotus owners about how expectations vs reality was going to be. I think reality is somewhere in the middle, better than the past, but not up to expectations still.

A saying that has stuck with me thru life is "Never worry about the things you cannot change or avoid". That's hard to do, but bitching about things won't get us cars any faster!

Thank you.

Perhaps you and others can now appreciate my reluctance to publish anything about the i4. The information I have hasn't appeared anywhere else online. So, like Phil's pictures on Saturday, I expect anything I post to be copied and pasted across every forum and Facebook group and Emira-related Instagram account and so on. Frankly, I could do without the shitstorm that will produce.

I'm still debating what I can share and what I'm prepared to post up. Reactions such as the posts on here today and over the weekend suggest I'm better off not posting.
I respect that you get priviledge information.... and at time share it..... But why dont Lotus do right by its customers, If you have the information....... Lotus do..... why not share........own the media story ...... honest, open, strong and transparant ?

We get it Andrew, you don't like how Lotus are handling it. I don't either. But berating people on here won't change it. You visited the factory and told them and they gave you an answer. You have access to a number of Lotus people - you can ask them too.

Thank you.

Sorry berating who...... Its my view....... thats all, I respect others for there.... and I will and have defend peoples right to voice what and how they feel about something.... I respect you.... that if you feel I am wrong you tell me, That you walk hard for the greater good of the Lotus community.....

Yes I was very impressed with the work that Lotus have done getting the new production line built, so very impressed

Tom , you summed it up with Lotus, they know they have etc, but not willing to change

Yes spoken to people at Lotus.... but I think the big issue is some have there own agenda, one reason we not seen pictures..... who knows

I am sorry if any of you feel berated by me

Apologies if I contributed to that, it was a moment of frustration. I’ve since deleted the post.

I like others are desperate for more info on the I4, so it's a shame you are reluctant to share but after reading some of the posts, I totally understand.

Enjoy the fun of the forum chaps, I think I'll take a break from this one, sadly I've never seen so much whinging and moaning before on any forum (and I join several Land Rover ones!). As mentioned, no one was forced to buy a car unseen, 12 months in advance, understandably there are frustrations but welcome to the real world, chill out and be happy you'll take delivery of one of the best ICE cars ever made...

@TomE thanks for all your valiant efforts in posting updates/info and facts/common sense, you've been great and I dont envy you policing this anymore. People need to have a word with themselves. Hopefully see you at Newlands Corner in the not too distant future with my Nimbus or DV Emira (tbc!!)

See ya...

I will just say... that it's not just on this forum its most owner groups.
Nobody bought anything unseen (99.9% anyway) And we were told by Lotus that there would be updates, which have either not been forthcoming or have been contradictory.
Tom has been amazing 👏 but he should not be having to deal with comms or fighting fires. It almost feels like arrogance now on Lotus part. They know what customers are asking for and there is no transparent communication from them in anyway to help appease people's frustrations with the purchase process.
For people new to the brand it is a poor experience and one that will unfortunately be remembered no matter how good the car is. And if the car does not meet expectation Lotus have zero goodwill going into the ownership experience

It's my understanding that Lotus have appointed someone, centrally, to deal with customer communication and manage information. That indicates, hopefully, that HQ recognise there is a need for imajor mprovement.

That position closed 5th December. So hopefully they have come from somewhere respectable and have just finished their 3 month notice

Thank you.

I'd suggest not acting as the Lotus unofficial messenger @TomE to maintain your health!! :)

In production means rehearsals are over. It's now performance night. The audience is getting seated. The curtain is still down, but all the musicians and performers are getting into their position on stage, and all the technicians are making sure everything is where it's supposed to be and working. There will be one final check to see if everyone is ready, then the curtain goes up and it's show time.

If you've ever been in a stage production or performance, there's always last-minute adjustments, costume fixes or changes, whatever. Lots of little things going on backstage and behind the curtain that the audience never sees. All they see is the curtain, while they wait for the show to begin.

Right now all you guys see is the curtain, and you're impatient for the show to start. Now's the time to go to the bathroom, get some popcorn or a beverage of your choice. Be patient. The show's about to begin.

Too late anyway by sounds of things, with Lotus 'officially' announcing 400bhp in i4 via CS chat. Will see if it comes to pass when i4 info released I guess.

You can be a pedant about what "production" means to you, but it's irrelevant. Lotus are "In Production" - they have started building the first official Production Emira. Whether it is finished or not, or destined for approvals process or a dealer or a customer is irrevelant.
I think this may be a cultural difference in the concept of "production" between US and UK/European consumers. In US context, "production" typically means that the vehicle is already 100% complete in terms of homologation and type approval, and the units now being produced are ones that bear Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act obligations. That means that from the "production" date forward, they are fully intended for end-consumer disposition (immediate or eventual), including delivery, title, registration, and private ownership under the laws of their destination country.

The main thing being produced out of Hethel right now is a steady stream of migraines by the look of it... :)

Tbh I think you could argue that's same anywhere. Pre production, sampling, production ready samples etc etc. But Tom is right we know what Lotus meant by it so no point dwelling on it :)

Sorry if this upsets any one.... but it comes down to this..... Yes I think the car is going to be wonderful

But I will be spending 80K on a car (and before some one says it, no ones asking me to, yes I have chosen to ? we can get in to the semantics of that at another time) as such. There is a need to feel you can trust the company your dealing with,

Trust comes from honest, open and transparent communication
