Emira production is underway

Sorry if this upsets any one.... but it comes down to this..... Yes I think the car is going to be wonderful

But I will be spending 80K on a car (and before some one says it, no ones asking me to, yes I have chosen to ? we can get in to the semantics of that at another time) as such. There is a need to feel you can trust the company your dealing with,

Trust comes from honest, open and transparent communication
You are right to a point of course, but I think we all got it now. How often do you want to repeat the same stuff over and over again like a mantra? June and July deliveries are taking the risk of getting a car they don't fully know everything about. We didn't know that when we were ordering. But we are facing a global pandemic for two years now and as if that wasn't enough a war that will hit us even harder. Most German manufacturers had to stop their production completely. As far as we know, Lotus has a delay of one month and we are probably 600 people that don't know all the details out of let's say 50.000 that will buy an Emira until Lotus ends its production. It's not the end of the world...

Too late anyway by sounds of things, with Lotus 'officially' announcing 400bhp in i4 via CS chat. Will see if it comes to pass when i4 info released I guess.
400bhp I4😱 missed that bit of info

I trust that they are doing everything they possibly can to build solid cars. The rest is potentially annoying and frustrating, and IF you had to commit before seeing colors and such, would be a tough decision to make, but in reality doesn't change when I'll get what I actually want. "Knowing" most of this stuff in advance simply doesn't change the end result. And not complicated to defer the ordering till the info is available IF it's dealbreaker info for a buyer.

I was just made aware of a movie I had not seen before. Considering the times we're in right now, I think it appropriate to remember sacrifices that were made in the past, so we could have what we have today. Not everyone has it as fortunate as we do.

The movie is called They Shall Not Grow Old. Here's the preview trailer:

It's ok... so did the rest of the CS department.
Best to just wait for actual content to appear on the GB site I'd say. They didn't even bat an eyelid when linked to the CN spec page.
Can you point me to the thread out of interest?

Thanks. I'll take a look now👍

You make the assumption that we are going to order this car eventually. There are a lot of 1st time lotus customers like me that lotus SAYS they value and are trying to bring into the brand. But this ordering experience is shit compared with other brands I’ve purchased and I am being teased along getting angrier by the day. Do I really want this car and to be stuck in this customer experience- dealer not helpful, Lotus even less so…? Very much remains to be seen.

You are either going to buy a car or not - very simple. This constant bombardment in my opinion is no longer warranted. All of you on todays account need to leave this forum, constant abuse for no reason other than personal egos is not acceptable

I'm a 1st timer too.

My assumption was only that a person would either deal with it and order, defer till they were confident, or go buy something else. My point was more so that a lot of the communication expectations really don't affect the end result delivery timing, and the complaining isn't going to change that.

What other models have you ordered 9+ months prior to production? What made that experience better/different? I've never ordered a model that wasn't already in production, so nothing to really compare to for me.

I applaud your ill fated attempt at trying to provide some perspective :)

You can be a pedant about what "production" means to you, but it's irrelevant. Lotus are "In Production" - they have started building the first official Production Emira. Whether it is finished or not, or destined for approvals process or a dealer or a customer is irrevelant.
Tom this made me chuckle great post! Let’s wind the clock forward 3-4 months and I can see the mood of the forum being so much more positive. 😎 Come on board the Lotus journey or go for a German alternative the choice is yours..

I ordered months prior for my current car. European delivery. Dealer kept me in the loop so factory didn’t do anything but treat us very well at the Welt. Amazing experience getting the car and that set the stage for owning it.

If I felt Lotus was making ANY effort at all I might not have this tension between what my mind and heart are telling me. But they just literally are making no effort at all to communicate and that combined with the stories of the “old” lotus with cars with subpar construction and the expectation that it’s just they way it is to get the “lotus experience “ gives me this very real dread in my heart.

Spending 100g on a car should be a fun experience. It certainly has not been this far.

I guess basically I feel like I love fallen in love with an abusive supermodel. And I keep venting here because I haven’t yet come to grips with the fact that this is apparently the best Lotus can do. I’m keep hoping they will change. Sigh.

This made me LOL... I really think the car will be excellent. I have no clue what to expect if something breaks, but I'm going into it expecting long parts delays and knowing the dealer is not nearby... Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised! haha

I think we're all in a place where the best thing to do is be patient and excited for what's to come.

I think some of us, myself included, were expecting the recent press reviews to be of a production ready model, so that was a little bit of a let down, but everything that was shared from those reviews were very positive.

Staying optimistic and excited for the time being, and trying not to get to worked up is the best thing we can do.
