I think we're all in a place where the best thing to do is be patient and excited for what's to come.

I think some of us, myself included, were expecting the recent press reviews to be of a production ready model, so that was a little bit of a let down, but everything that was shared from those reviews were very positive.

Staying optimistic and excited for the time being, and trying not to get to worked up is the best thing we can do.
You might want to reflect on none of those 'preview' reviews concluded 'Not ready for prime time`
I believe the feeling was bring-it-on and get one while you can.

Just out of curiosity is there a common practice regarding these type of “buying new car sight unseen” situation? As it’s a first time for me. I can’t seem to recall coming across official photo shoot of all colors by car makers elsewhere. What I saw was either printed vouchers, configurator rendering or simply unsold cars scattering in front of showroom.

This isn't just a new model. It's a new model from a new factory using a new paint system and production processes they've never used before. There's an incredible amount of work involved in all this, and my hat's off to all those making this happen. Sure the communication department isn't exactly covering itself with glory right now, but to me the most important thing is getting the car right since that's what I'm buying.

@EM33RA I’ll admit my bias in that I’ve posted many frustrations here as well but a forum that doesn’t foster healthy debate becomes a worthless echo chamber. (Tesla forum anyone….).

Making this the “locals bar” where anyone who doesn’t fit in isn’t welcome isn’t good for a brand that is trying to bring in new folks just like us. Please don’t tell others to leave.

Heck at least for me the enthusiasm of some long time owners who promise this will be a cracking car is probably the biggest reason I haven’t bailed yet.

This forum has grown from zero to what it is today in the last 9 months because of the diversity of its members, the shared perspectives (good, bad and indifferent) shared insights as well as its inclusiveness.

I very much enjoy the open constructive dialog and banter. Let’s not lose that because of some point in time frustrations we may have with Lotus’ comms department and not each other.

Theres too much negativity in this world already. Thanks to everyone for making this forum awesome!

So obvious how mentally weak some people are, that criticisms of there purchasing choices ( auto purchase decisions) affect them so greatly, and trigger their emotions so strongly. Just shows what frail emotional constitution that they have. What a joke they are.

Anyone who "blocks" or feels the need to lash out at someone who is being critical is really only displaying their own personal weakness.

Debate or make a counter point instead. TomE and Eagle7 do an exquisite job of effectively counterpunching with sheer intellect.

Others just become bitter, complain and run off looking for their mama.....

I feed off the pain and anguish of humanity as a hobby. But, even if one isnt a sadist, one should still be ok with looking at offensive pixels.

There was the same level of complaints and bitching on the corvette forum before the C8 was released....1) why pricing took so long to be released ? 2) why only some dealers got show cars ? 3) why some dealers would not let tall people sit inside a locked show car ?? (Kerbeck dealership) etc, etc, etc....

Then when everyone finally got their car....... they all shut up and became the biggest fans.

Same will happen here.

automotive "blue balls" thats all.

Keyboard warriors who take positions invariably defend their position, get petty and sometimes brutal. Rarely are they open to learning anything. Those that take positions to spark debate often discover and learn. Each type are easy to identify, label, and ignore or embrace.

Now there’s a position or two.

To be fair, I think everyone is pretty open on here in regards to praise and criticism of the mark.
Definitely one of the better forums I have frequented. Especially as there is such a diverse splattering of new Emira customers/old Lotus forum members.
As you say, just be critical of yourself and open to others. It's what makes the world a better place :)

Feels a bit of a crazy thread! Deposits are fully refundable, plenty of opportunity to take your custom elsewhere. In the current climate all manufacturers have some delays as well - also difficult to predict the next 30 days, let alone 12 months.

I agree a regular update email specific to your deposit/order would be helpful (that’s what I get from BMW & Porsche on current orders), but I’d also argue that Lotus is an aspiring premium brand with a lot of work to do to develop an infrastructure similar to well established marques - clearly demand for this car exceeded all expectations & they’re still figuring out how to navigate the problem (a great problem to have though!)

I may still be in the "honeymoon phase" with Lotus and the Emira, but I can't help still being giddy at the thought of someday owning this car and meeting other kindred spirits who appreciate a great piece of automotive art. I very much appreciate the differing viewpoints here, as it helps me to quickly develop a more well-rounded perspective on the process of obtaining and owning a Lotus.

I simply believe that if we all treat this forum as a "virtual car meet" and treat each other the way we would if we were discussing these topics face-to-face with a cup of coffee (or a pint) then things might get a little less "hectic". This may be naïve, since most online discourse has largely degenerated into a virtual "Lord of the Flies", but I'm an eternal optimist. Those of you lucky enough to be mere months away from taking delivery of a shiny new FE will help the rest of us transition from the current hand-wringing to a whole new level of excitement.

I'll leave you all with this: I went back and watched the "unboxing" video from last June and saw all the smiling, hand-waving people viewing the live stream. I suspect many of those people are here on this forum. Take a moment and reflect back on that day and the excitement that was clearly evident on your faces. Maybe this will help get you through the home stretch. We're currently in the part of that day when it was "chucking down rain". The sun is soon going to come out! 🙂

I'm really surprised that we're not seeing more photographs of completed Emiras. By now they must have manufactured >100 customer cars . . . where are they? Lotus can't hide them forever!

Great post. And yes I was one of those 131 smiling and hand waving people on that big screen!
