First Emira Breakdown?

I think so, yet I also understand that it does not stop you from driving the car, or manually controlling the wiper speed if you disable the Rain Sensing function and only control the wipers manually.

Please correct me if I am mistaken.
You are mistaken. Check the relevant thread.

You are mistaken. Check the relevant thread.
Checked the threads, here is what it says;

...... fastest speed can be achieved either by putting it in Auto and leaving it there or by only operating the wipers manually, normal and then into fast mode.
Its only if you put it into auto mode first and then take it out and manually try and select fast that the issue occurs.
If that is the case, while this is clearly an issue, it is possible to have the wipers in fast mode when you need them.
Yes, I think that is right!
So to clarify;

  1. Leave it in manual mode and I then have the full range to use.
  2. If it is in Auto mode, I will not get the fastest speed.

Some conflicting info is out there as others have confirmed that if you stay in manual mode from the initial "ignition on", all speeds can be obtained, yet others say they can not obtain the fastest wiper speed in any case??

Can you please clarify?

Sorry to hear of your problems, I am 1300 miles in from a Hethel pickup on 22nd December and so far pretty OK really. I would be majorly pi**ed off in your position though.

I'm new to the forum and my initial impressions are that there are a few proper bell*nds in here who seem to be rejoicing in some early adopter issues - and the fact they have cancelled. You don't know what you are missing chaps. More fool you. I couldn't be more happy.

OP, bear with it - I hope it gets sorted, they are special cars.

Welcome to the forum. We would definitely like to see pictures. And first hand examples of what people are missing would provide some balance :)

Feel free to start a journal thread:

Your initial impressions are really accurate

No offence, but not really, you were miles down the queue and would of ended up with a car that didn‘t have early teething troubles. It’s the early adopters that are having a hard time
But if you think about it. Lotus hasn't even fixed the easiest problem they have which is Customer service a lot of people are just waiting in the dark they couldn't even address the people about all the delays and never ending push backs so what made you think they are actually doing something to fix something they would have to spend money on doing trials and errors if writing a letter that's is free they can't even provide it's sad to say at the end of the day lotus is just for the profit

Some just have reverse confirmation-bias. You see us as rejoicing, but could not be more wrong. Many are just afraid to address the issues head-on, that they might appear negative. It's just being a realist, calling a spade a spade. If everyone would just avoid getting emotional things would be fine. 🤷🏻

I remember you were like a kid on Christmas Eve last year, trying to decide what colour to order your Emira, and you sounded so disappointed after finally test driving the car and realizing that it just wasn't for you. 🤷

Did you read my posts in that thread which detail the problem and the ‘interim fix’ specified by Lotus?
The assumptions made in the post you quote do not reflect my experiences over several hundred miles driving which i have shared in that thread. Put simply you definitely cannot control the speed of the wipers and they will revert to being stuck slow mode whether you use auto mode or not. I would suggest using the thread to ask further questions if this still doesn’t clear it up.

I concur,it was great for the first 140 miles 🤣

I'm just really put off by the service now something has gone wrong,
Misscommunications,
No courtesy car
Car not dropped off to dealer (AA fault)
Car bot picked up after AA did not turn up for two days (AA again)
Told Car was fixed by HQ,dealer confirmed it wasn't
Dealer said Car not a priority
HQ said its a priority and specialist sent out to fix
HQ senior management tell.me they're investigating, I constantly.have to chase
Customer service tell me they are going to get an update on progress and call.me back-they never do....

I hate to admit it,I love the car,but I'm looking at other brands already...
Although who's to say they wouldn't be just as bad...

It is what it is ,eh?

How can Lotus not provide a courtesy car this is just basics - what if car was your daily for work - are they picking all your taxi 🚕 expenses up ?
I still find this part shocking.

I'll be writing an email to the Seniors today about the journey and what hasn't happened when it clearly states that it should.

Funny isn’t it how you take such things as granted - when I’ve had premium cars I have managed to get premium loan car. Wonder if this is dealer specific or across the board - as there has been quite a few customers cars back for work / niggles - has anyone received a courtesy car 🚗 …..

No courtesy car - seriously ?

This is because of the disconnect in the dealer model Lotus have put together.

I obviously don't know all the ins and outs. But from what I have heard it isn't that lucrative to be a Lotus dealer anymore, with Lotus expecting a lot, but not really giving much back in return (especially in these early low production stages)

There obviously isn't a loan car scheme in place to deal with this scenario (or any other) and so it's left to dealer goodwill. If the dealer is all out of goodwill 💰 then its the customer that suffers.

How it could have got to this stage with nobody picking this up as a scenario is frankly unbelievable.

They will have known there would be teething problems so why not put the process in to support. I can think of 3 possible reasons only why not and none of them would fill me with the confidence to alignin myself with the brand.

You are a patient man @Lots_Of_Trouble

Id like to think i am also but I'd be losing it about now. Hope you get a resolution before the weekend starts

My patience has boiled over to not caring much anymore...I've lost the enthusiasm for the car at this point,I'm sure it will change again once i get it back, but it's not the same feeling I had before....tarnished somewhat..

Already looking at Spyders that I should have perhaps bought...

I think shaank is the only one so far to get a courtesy car.

It's sad that Lotus are losing a lot of customers and potential customers through pure apathy at the way things are handled by them 🙁
