Can someone, especially those with a shop manual, tell me how the shifter knob comes off?
Is it threaded and twists off? Does it have a set screw that holds it on?
I appreciate any help that you guys can provide. Thanks.

I believe there is a set screw on the back "facing the dash". Loosen the set screw and unscrew.
If I'm wrong someone will correct me

The knob is threaded on, so it "unscrews" but you first have to remove a set screw. Here's a thread which may help you doing the re-install:

The thread you referenced talks about the knob on the standard transmission.
I'm looking for info about the knob on the auto transmission.

You are correct. I just read the post incorrectly. sorry for the misinformation. I need to pay better attention. I saw "shop manual" and my brain went to manual transmission
