Transmission stall while driving

So right after I hit 1,000 miles, while driving home for the holidays, cruising around 50 mph, transmission just gave out. When stepping on the accelerator, rpm just rev but the car will not advance any further, was able to limp to a nearby parking lot to see what went wrong because no CEL came on, and when a friend came by with his scan tool, it did not show anything wrong with the car. Had to tow it to the nearess dealer in ATL, which is like 8 hrs from where I live. it's a V6 auto, I've tried putting it in manual and even disconnect the battery terminals to reset it, but still no luck. Dealer called today and confirmed that when they put it in gear the car would not move, forward or reverse, they will diagnose and let me know as soon as they can. Own a few exotics, first time with a lotus, so far not good.
