U.S. Update: Allocation & Order Date

Just received another email from my dealer regarding my inquiry on order status:
"Nothing definitive as of yet. It is fluid at the moment, however Lotus factory has stated they are expediting US production as quickly as possible. Management has a factory call on Friday morning. We anticipate more word then. I will circle back straight away with any/all updates as they become available."
From a business stand point - the current situation with currency fluctuations ( high USD vs Pounds) it would make sense to prioritze US delivery's. However, I still think the UK market will be serviced first of course.

I actually heard from another source that US deliveries are being intentionally deprioritized from the ROW for some reason.

Nice of the dealership to reach out to you.

Wish my dealer would do this!

I already resigned myself to dealing with my car sitting at their showroom until spring comes to western MA. I've got the first one coming to the Boston area, but it will be a miracle if I drive it this year.
This is why I bought a M4 Competition Xdrive two days ago after a customer reneged on the order. I am 4th in line in my State and I'll be lucky to see my Emira by March. Not getting younger so I'll drive another fun car while I wait.

Yeah, I regret not buying something else to hold me over. I was tempted by a couple Caymans and Evoras last year. If I knew "Spring 2022" actually meant 2023... 😔

Many nice words but empty of information.
Someone here mentioned receiving morsels of data
yet we are reduced to parsing crumbs.
How big is our appetite?

Yup, got the same email today from Lotus of Orlando. Kudos to them for initiating the comms.

odd... Financially that doesn't make sense. Unless there is something that price paid fluctuates based on currency? But that wouldn't make any sense either .... Maybe they are getting back at Americans for separating from the empire in 1776

It’s so frustrating. Imagine how much goodwill Lotus could earn by just having a marketing person do a 5 minute Instagram video from the factory floor each week with the latest status. Would cost absolutely nothing, but mean the world to depositors.

It makes perfect sense. the GBP is down 15% from last year to the USD - do the Math - unfortunately, the USD is crushing almost every other currency right now and it seems it will continue for a while...!

Why the discrepancy in FE delivery times suddenly? Noticed this changed in the configurator recently. Is that a typo? Always heard Winter 2022/23 for i4, right behind the V6 - so will they sneakily change V6 Autumn 2022 to Spring 2023 as an official notification?

Actually, a strong dollar is a very good thing for Lotus as all cars sold in the USA will be paid for in dollars and then converted to pounds...The higher the dollar goes the more pounds that go to Lotus when each car is sold in the USA. So, it really behooves Lotus to start delivering cars to the USA asap...Now if only that were possible. :)

Yup... and I bet they deliver a single V6FE or two in the Autumn just to say they hit the deadline, with the rest of us well into 2023.
Have they run in to issues with one FE setup vs. the other? - just seems like a very wide timeline gap. And no announcement/update at all?

It will push everything back. However I imagine they are hoping that supply chain issues (and whatever else) are resolved sooner rather than later and they can make up the lost production time. I find it unlikely tho, especially with it being a new car, 'new' staff and new production line

As usual it is well writtten , but does not include any facts !😳

The plan has always been for i4 to be 4-6 months after V6. They already knew the V6 but have had to do more engineering, development and testing on the i4.

Couple of observations, electronic compont delivery is messed up due to lock down, anything purchased from Italian suppliers is now locked down as they are now on holiday as a nation for all August. I don't think these are the problem but the aluminium car structure components could be. I cannot get any door extrusion for love nor money here in the UK. All big aluminium suppliers have gone quiet, no one will commit or confirm anything in my field, I'm coming to the conclusion that a lot of the worlds aluminium specialist components are being extruded in Ukraine / Polish region and a lot in Germany and adversely affected globally. Anyway just my thoughts, anyone out there know who make the chassis extrusions?
