It seems to vary - on another thread, checkout, ID check and potential delivery all in about a month.. For me, checkout start of march, ID check last week (wed) and told today by CS that I will get the delivery call in 1 - 2 weeks. Mine is a manual, but for example, @JohnHoward checked out after me, but got the finish line email already and I did not

Got checkout email Tuesday and completed it that evening, approved for finance the next morning and she said 'we are just waiting on Lotus now' which means it could be hours or weeks i guess.

Nimbus grey, lower black pack, black forged wheels and ice grey calipers. I opted for the service plan, alloy cover and ceramic coating at factory. Yès i know...

Still no insurance quotes on confused for the UK V6 auto, has anyone made any enquiries with brokers direct and if so what are they saying? For those of us going through checkout we have already agreed to have insurance in place for pickup/delivery but this is tricky if we can't get quotes!

I emailed gocompare CS team two days ago with this query, was provided with a three day response time, so hopefully in the next 24 hours should know more, I’m due to collect in this coming month also so could do with options on insurance asap!

Email just received for my retention certificate. Strangely, it went to spam despite the Lotus email address being in my address book and having received all other emails without this happening, so keep an eye on your spam folder!

Weird - I’ve just got the private plate one today too…. Buuuuut I haven’t had my ID check.

Being “imminent” is almost harder!

For anyone waiting for a UK V6 auto - I have been trying to get to the bottom of the 'missing insurance' for the automatic cars.

I had a web chat earlier with LCC and asked when I would be able to get quotes. Their reply was that they register the cars the day before delivery and then you will be able to get insurance. I explained that it is currently impossible to get quotes whether you have a reg or not. In fact a reg is not required to get a quote, this can be done off the make and model info which is missing on all insurance sites.
I then asked if Lotus have informed Thatcham of the Type Approval details so the car can be loaded onto the master databases that the insurers quote from. I was told that they did not have that information and that it was not possible to get that information from Lotus.
LCC acknowledged that the situation was frustrating.

I am assuming that Lotus have Type Approval because we know the road tax and this comes from the emissions signed off by Type Approval. Is there a chance they don't have Type Approval signed off but are using the figures submitted for the road tax in the hope that they will be signed off? I think this is possible, anything is possible.

With no progress really made, I have emailed Thatcham directly. Another forum member kindly provided me with a contact at Thatcham, in fact the very person that has responsibility for the task of uploading the data to the insurers. I am hoping that I will hear back from him with some kind of update. The last time he helped a Lotus owner was when this forum member purchased an auto V6 Exige and couldn't get insurance anywhere as the car didn't exist on insurer sites (does this sound familiar). It turned out that lotus forgot to let Thatcam know!

I am started to get a bit more than frustrated know and I will not let this topic go.
I want to know how much my insurance is going to be before I part with my money. I realise that the autos are likely to be the same cost as the manuals, but what if they are not for some unknown reason.
I find it ridiculous that all of us (auto folk) that have now checked out have agreed in the terms and conditions that we will insure the car prior to collection/home delivery, but we have got absolutely no idea what that is going to cost. We have all signed a blank cheque, I feel very uncomfortable about that.

Will keep you all updated.

Thanks for all your work on this John, hopefully should be available shortly as I have suppled registration certificate to Lotus yesterday.

I spoke to a lady at admiral today, I have a multi car policy with them and after going through the questions the auto isn’t on their system (long story short)so she’s passed it onto whatever department deals with this issue and they will get back to me within 3 days i will give a update as soon as I have a reply fingers crossed

Hi all I just received a call from admiral and they said that they are unable to insure an automatic Emira because lotus have only provided spec for a manual transmission so admiral can’t see it on their database and it’s down to lotus to to provide the relevant information.
HELP any ideas going through checkout now 😱

Checkout. They then send invoice. You say I’ll pay when I can get insurance. Once you get invoice you are not dealing with CS you are dealing with accounts. They will want the money and not to be storing your car.

If you’ve escalated it with LCC and had no luck, drop me a private message and I’ll let you know who to escalate it to next.

I asked CS for the final spec for the Auto but they never replied to me

I am going to contact LCC tomorrow and see what they say it’s getting a bit close to the wire now and thanks TomE I appreciate your help I may be in touch tomorrow 👍

Sounds good I’m thinking of doing the same at factory options.
What are the costs of the service plan, ceramic and alloy covers ? Thanks

As per my post #191 above, don't set your expectations too high that Lotus will be of any help, I found them no help whatsoever when I contacted them last week. It is an interesting situation for those of us in the checkout process. We have agreed to insure the car as it is a legal requirement for insurance to be in place in time for collection/delivery.
I think there are 2 possibilities here.
1) Type Approval has not been officially granted and Lotus are hoping that they will get Type Approval based on their submission which of course is what determines the amount of road tax (emissions based). The fact that Lotus will not advise the technical specs for the auto (as per @CDM1855 post above) makes me suspicous about whether they have Type Approval or not.
2) Type Approval is granted, but it is waiting to be advised to Thatcham for upload, or waiting for Thatcham to process. I have contacted the person at Thatcham who is responsible for this (or certainly was in the past) and I am hoping that I may hear from him further.
My big frustration is that when this gets sorted out, there will be only a small number of insurers to choose from initially. Last year when the manaul got loaded onto the insurers systems, I got a manual quote (there was very little choice of insurers) and my best price was £650. I tried the same quote last week and there was a vast list with the cheapest @ £350. If we can ever get insurance, I think I will plan to get it insured wherever I can and then review after 3 months once the auto has filtered through more insurers and then if necessary cancel the first policy and start with a new one.
